COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State heads to Georgia this week to participate in the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The resort boasts seven courses and this week’s event will be played on The Landing. The 54-hole event begins on Monday and the final round will be played on Wednesday.
- This will be Ohio State’s 4th appearance in the event. Its best finish is a fourth-place finish in 2018. The Buckeyes have had a pair of Top 20 finishers in each of the previous three appearances led by a tie for 8th from Daniel Wetterich in 2019.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will consist of five Ohioans in Joe Wilson IV, Jack Vojtko, Tyler Sabo, Timotej Formanek and Topher Reed. Vaughn Harber, Drew Mulcahy and Tyler Groomes will all play as individuals this week.
- The Buckeyes posted the lowest final round at the Colleton River Collegiate in their last time out and finished in seventh place.
- Freshman Timotej Formanek fired a final round 68, the lowest of his young career, in the final round at Colleton River and finished in a tie for 14th. That was his first round in the 60s and the first Top 20 of his career.
- Sabo had a bit of a slow start to the spring but fired a 1-under 71 in the final round at Colleton River to get on track. He leads the team with three Top 20 finishes on the year.
- Vojtko continues to pace the team in scoring with a 73.50 scoring average. He too has three Top 20 finishes and leads the team with five eagles and three rounds in the 60s.
- Wilson IV has played in every event this year and is averaging 73.88. He posted a Top 10 at the Blessings Collegiate in the fall and has a pair of Top 20s this season.
- Reed has played in three events this season. He finished fifth at the Golden Flash Individual event, shot 74 at the East Lake Cup and was then 12th at the Colleton River Individual Collegiate.
- The weather looks perfect for golf next week, with temperatures in the upper-60s to low-70s with very little chance of rain.
