COLUMBUS, Ohio --Â The match between No. 4 Ohio State (12-2, 4-2) and No. 7 Minnesota (9-1, 5-1) Friday came down to the final match of the night at the Covelli Center (4,626/Sellout).Â
Ohio State led 17-16 after nine matches with just the 184-pound match between No. 19 Ryder Rogotzke of Ohio State and No. 4 Max McEnelly of Minnesota. The Gophers came out on top with the win in the last match by major decision to earn the 20-17 victory.Â

197-No. 9 Isaiah Salazar (MINN) def. No. 18 Seth Shumate (OSU) | D, 4-1, SV
Shumate was credited with a takedown late in the first that went to video review after Minnesota challenged the call. The Golden Gophers won the challenge to keep the opening period scoreless. Shumate chose bottom to open the second and earned an escape for a 1-0 lead. That was the only score of the period. Salazar tied it at 1-all with an escape early in the third. The match then went to sudden victory tied at 1-all. Salazar then got the winning takedown late in the extra period to win by decision, 4-1.
HWT-No. 1 Gable Steveson (MINN) def. No. 9 Nick Feldman (OSU) | MD, 13-4
Steveson scored first with a takedown 45 seconds into the opening period. Feldman escaped to make it 3-1 Minnesota. Steveson added another takedown to make it 6-1 going to the second. Feldman added another escape early in the second to make it 6-2. Steveson scored a takedown midway through the second for a 9-2 lead. Another Feldman escape made it 9-3 going to the third. Stevelson scored a takedown before a Feldman escape to up the lead to 12-4 Minnesota. Steveson won 13-4 by major decision after a point for riding time was added.Â

McCrone scored the first takedown of the bout late in the first for a 3-0 lead after three minutes. McCrone added two more points with a reversal to start the second for a 5-0 lead. After injury time for Minnesota, McCrone chose down and added an escape point for a 6-0 lead going to the third. After a scramble, McCrone added another takedown for a 9-0 lead to win by major decision, 9-0.Â

133-Ben Davino (OSU) def. No. 18 Tyler Wells (MINN) | D, 3-1 TB-2
There was no score in the opening period. Davino opened the scoring with an escape early in the second. Officials called a takedown for Davino as time expired in the period and reviewed the call and then reversed it to a no takedown call to keep it at 1-0 Buckeyes going to the third. Wells escaped to tie it at 1-all for the only scoring to send it to sudden victory. Neither wrestler scored in the extra frame. From bottom in the first overtime, Davino escaped in six seconds for a 2-1 lead. Wells chose neutral in the second overtime. Davino was awarded a point for hands to the face to win by decision, 3-1.Â

VomBaur scored first with a takedown followed by a Mendez escape for a 3-1 lead for Minnesota. Mendez took a 4-3 lead with a takedown headed to the second. VomBaur took the lead with a reversal to lead 5-4 after five minutes. From bottom, Mendez escaped to tie it at 5-all early in the third. The match went to sudden victory tied at 5-all. There was no score in the extra period, In the first overtime, Mendez escaped in six seconds for a 6-5 lead. Minnesota chose neutral and did not score. Mendez won by decision, 6-5.Â

D'Emilio scored first with a takedown for a 3-0 lead early in the first. After a Roberts escape, D'Emilio added another takedown for a 6-1 lead. D'Emilio led 6-2 after the first before adding an escape point for a 7-2 advantage after five minutes. Roberts escaped early in the third. D'Emilio added a late takedown and a point for riding time to win by major decision 11-3.Â
157-No. 8 Tommy Askey (MINN) def. Brandon Cannon (OSU) | MD, 11-2
Askey led 3-0 after the first with a late takedown. Cannon escaped early in the second before a Askey takedown. Another Cannon escape made it 6-2 Minnesota after two periods. Askey added an escape and a takedown for a 10-2 lead. With a point for riding time, Askey won by major decision, 11-2.

Sparks scored with a takedown to lead 3-0 after the first. Sparks added an escape point and takedown for a 7-0 lead early in the second. Sparks then added a four-point nearfall for an 11-0 lead after two periods. Sparks pushed the lead to 14-1 after a takedown and Herman escape. Herman finished with an 18-1 win by technical fall.Â

There was no score after the opening period. Whiting started the scoring with an escape to open the second. Kharchla added a late takedown for a 3-1 lead going to the second. Kharchla added an escape early in the third before a late takedown made it a win by decision, 7-1.Â
