No. 4 Buckeyes Continue Dominance of Texas A&M in 4-2 Victory

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 Ohio State dropped the doubles point but showed their depth in a 4-2 victory over No. 14 Texas A&M on Friday night inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The Buckeyes improve to 6-1 on the year while A&M falls to 3-2. This was the fifth consecutive win for Ohio State against Texas A&M in the last five years.
This was the second consecutive match that the Buckeyes lost the doubles point but unlike Sunday at Wake Forest, they were able to complete the comeback.
Doubles
- Texas A&M was able to quiet the large crowd as they claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three.
- The Buckeye duo of Bryce Nakashima and Preston Stearns claimed the first win with a 6-4 victory on court two.
- Ritesh Patil and Tiago Pires then beat Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico by the same score on court three.
- The match on court one was a solid that went to a tiebreaker. A&M was able to pull out a 7-5 win and put the first point on the board.
Singles
- Needing a spark, the Buckeyes got it from Chris Li as he rolled Togan Tokac 6-0 in the opening set. He used that momentum to win the second set 6-2 and get the Buckeyes on the board.
- Ohio State would end up winning five of the six first sets to steal momentum.
- Jack Anthrop was the next done, as he beat Tiago Pires 6-3, 6-1 for his ninth wins of the year.
- Preston Stearns won 7-2 in a first set tiebreaker on court six and that crushed Patil. He had little push back in the second set and Stearns breezed to a 6-0 win.
- Aidan Kim returned to form on court one as he beat No. 60 Theo Papamalamis 6-3, 6-4 to provide the clinching point.
