COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 Ohio State will host No. 14 Texas A&M and Baylor at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center this weekend. The Buckeyes will take on the Aggies on Friday at 6 p.m. and the Bears on Sunday at noon.
Admission and parking are free for all men’s tennis matches.
- The match Friday night will be the 21st all-time meeting between Ohio State and Texas A&M. The Buckeyes lead the series 12-8. Texas A&M is currently No.14 in the ITA rankings and holds a 3-1 record on the season. The Aggies advanced through the ITA Kickoff Weekend and then lost at Pepperdine last Sunday.
- Last season, the Buckeyes rebounded from their first loss of the season two days earlier by rolling past the Aggies 6-1. Ohio State also blanked A&M 7-0 the last time the teams played in Columbus in February of 2023.
- On Sunday, Ohio State will meet Baylor for the tenth time. The team’s first meeting was in 2004, where Baylor took the win. Ohio State has won every match since, leading the series 8-1. This will be just the fifth match that hasn’t been part of a national tournament.
- Last season's 4-1 victory against Baylor gave Ty Tucker his 700th career win.
- Ohio State was on the road this past weekend, competing against No. 5 Virginia and No. 4 Wake Forest. The Buckeyes defeated Virginia 5-2 but fell short at Wake Forest in a hard-fought 4-3.
- Three Buckeyes are ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings. Aidan Kim leads the way at No. 22, followed by Alexander Bernard at No. 47 and Will Jansen at No. 106.
- In doubles, Jansen and Bryce Nakashima are ranked No. 23 while Bernard and Kim check in at No. 76.
- Chris Li has won his last six singles matches and leads the team with a 13-4 singles record. Preston Stearns won a three-set match last week at Wake Forest for his first dual match singles victory of the year and is 9-3 on the season.
- The doubles team of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin are 3-0 at the No. 3 spot and are 6-1 overall on the year.
