COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State and Michigan will renew its rivalry this week as the two will meet for a non-conference match in Columbus on Wednesday evening. First serve is set for 6 p.m. from the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Admission and parking are free for all men’s tennis matches.
- This will be the 124th all-time meeting between Ohio State and Michigan on the tennis court. The Wolverines lead the series 71-49-3 but Ohio State is 37-5 since Ty Tucker took over in 2000.
- The teams met three times last season. Ohio State defeated Michigan 4-0 in both regular season matches and 4-1 in the Big Ten Tournament.
- Ohio State is 9-2 on the season and is coming off of a 4-1 win over Baylor at the ITA Indoor Championships in Waco, Texas. The Buckeyes went 2-1 at the event, also beating No. 6 Columbia.
- Michigan is 5-5 on the year and is coming off a 5-2 setback at No. 20 Illinois on Saturday. The Wolverines also advanced to the ITA Indoor Team National Championship but went 1-2, only securing a win over host SMU.
- Three Buckeyes are ranked in the latest ITA rankings. Aidan Kim leads the way at No. 14, followed by Alexander Bernard at No. 52, and Jack Anthrop at No. 64.
- Anthrop is just four wins away from 100 in his career. He owns 74 singles wins and 22 career doubles victories.
- In doubles, Ohio State has two ranked teams. Bryce Nakashima and Will Jansen stand at No. 23 while Aidan Kim and Alexander Bernard stand at No. 74.
- Freshmen Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin went 3-0 in doubles at the Indoor Championships and the duo is 10-2 on the year.
