Ohio State Earns 17-11 Victory Over Air Force

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's lacrosse team picked up its fourth win in as many games with a 17-11 victory over Air Force Saturday at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
The Short Story
After a back-and-forth start to the game, Alex Marinier's second goal of the day scored with 5:46 to play in the first quarter gave the Buckeyes (4-1) the 3-2 lead, an advantage they held for the remainder of the game.
Marinier was unstoppable against the Falcons, finishing the game with seven goals on eight shots. The senior attacker's performance tied for seventh-most goals scored in a single game in program history and the most in a game in five seasons for the Buckeyes.
Ed Shean made his first start of the season and tied for a team and career-high seven points on four goals and a career-best three assists. Seven Buckeyes tallied a goal and 12 recorded points in the contest.
The team finished with 17 goals on 36 shots for a season-best .472 shot percentage. Ohio State won the ground ball battle, 30-28, and went 17-for-18 on clears.
Coleman Kraske led the team with a career-best five ground balls and went 5-of-10 at the faceoff. Jack Oldman finished 9-of-19 with four ground balls while Shean also picked up a career-high four ground balls on the day.
Caleb Fyock earned the win in goal for Ohio State, improving to 4-0 on the year with six saves on 10 shots faced. Henry Blake also saw action vs. the Falcons, playing the fourth quarter for the Buckeyes.

How it Happened
- The teams traded goals to start the game and were knotted at two goals apiece at 7:03. Marinier recorded a first quarter hat trick with the team's first third and fourth goals of the opening frame to put the Buckeyes ahead, 4-2, at the first quarter break.
- Ohio State started the second quarter with a goal from Gannon Matthews, who scored on the open net on Air Force's 10-man ride, 1:06 into the quarter. From there Ed Shean tallied his second of the half on the Buckeyes' only man-up opportunity of the game at 7:34 and Marinier tallied his fourth three minutes later.
- Air Force stopped the Buckeyes' scoring run with a goal at 3:31 to put the score at 7-3 in favor of the Buckeyes, but Marinier responded with another goal with just over a minute to play in the half for the 8-3 Scarlet and Gray lead.
- Ohio State outscored the Falcons, 6-1, in the third quarter. Shean and Marinier tallied two goals in the stretch while Matthews and Liam White added one each. Air Force scored its lone goal of the third, and the final goal of the quarter, at 2:33.
- The fourth quarter went in favor of Air Force as it outscored Ohio State, 7-3. The Buckeyes added goals from Mason Bregman, Griffin Turner and Jack McKenna to finish with a season-high 17 goals on the day.
