No. 8 Buckeyes to Host Badgers This Weekend

The teams will meet Friday and Saturday in Value City Arena
The Basics
- The No. 8 Ohio State men's hockey team is set to host Wisconsin in a two-game Big Ten series this weekend.
- The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Friday and 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.Â
- Friday's contest will be streamed through B1G+ and BTN will televise the Saturday game, with the telecast also on the Fox Sports app. Ohio State Radio will carry both games (1460 AM, Ohio State Buckeyes app and website) and live stats will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- Ohio State, 18-8-2 this season with an 11-6-1 2-2-0 (34 points/3rd place) B1G ledger, is coming off two 5-1 wins at Notre Dame last week. Wisconsin is 11-16-3 overall and 6-13-1 1-6-0 (24 points/5th place) in the B1G.Â
- At Friday's game, the Rose Bowl trophy will be available for fans to take photos with and there will be a ceremonial puck drop pregame with Ohio State football coach James Laurinaitis and select Buckeye football players.
- A new Fan Value Bundle is available for purchase online through OhioStateBuckeyes.com for both games this weekend. A $25 purchase includes a game ticket, $10 at the concession stands and a Chiller Ice Rink skate pass.
- Saturday is First Responder Appreciation. The annual game between Columbus Fire and Police will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. A game ticket includes both the First Responder game and the Buckeye vs. Badger game and fans will be able to remain in the arena between games.Â
- First Responder vehicles will be parked outside and there will be First Responder tables on the concourse.
- Single game, miniplan and group tickets are all available now. Ticket information and purchasing options are online and fans can also contact the Ohio State Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-GOBUCKS (select Option 2, then Option 2) or Athletic.tix@osu.edu. Customer service representatives are available via phone Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.Â
- Parking is free for all men's hockey home games.
- Ohio State is No. 8 in the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings this week, its 16th-straight week in the Top 20.
- The Buckeyes are in the Top 12 in the NCAA in scoring defense (2.32 goals allowed per game), scoring offense (3.32 gpg), scoring margin (+1.0) and winning percentage (.679).
- Five Buckeyes have hit the 20-point mark. Gunnarwolfe Fontaine is first with 29, followed by Riley Thompson (26), Davis Burnside (25), Max Montes (20) and Aiden Hansen-Bukata (20).Â
- Thompson leads the team with 14 goals. Hansen-Bukata has a team-high 19 assists.Â
- Logan Terness was named Big Ten Second Star of the Week after stopping 68-of-70 shots, including 41 Saturday, in the sweep at Notre Dame. He also picked up his first collegiate assist.
- Tim Adams, Ohio State equipment manager since the 1997-98 season, worked his 1,000th NCAA hockey game last Friday at Notre Dame.
- Ohio State is 32-27-5 all-time vs. Wisconsin and leads the regular season series since the start of Big Ten play, 27-14-5, with a 31-16-6 mark overall since 2013-14 (including postseason play). In Columbus, Ohio State leads all-time, 16-8-2.
- The teams faced off to open Big Ten play this year, with a series in Madison Oct. 18-19. Ohio State posted a 2-1 overtime win and a 2-1 win for a sweep.
- Last year, the teams met in Columbus Feb. 16-17, 2024, when Ohio State notched 3-2 OT and 3-1 victories.
- Ohio State head coach Steve Rohlik is a 1990 graduate of Wisconsin, where he was a captain on the Badgers' national championship team.
- Assistant coach JB Bittner spent a season on the Badger coaching staff in 2015-16.Â
- Buckeye sophomore forward Thomas Weis is a native of Madison, Wis., and his classmate Max Montes is from Hartland, Wis.Â
- Patrick Guzzo leads the current Buckeyes with 19 games played vs. Wisconsin, followed by Joe Dunlap with 14 and Davis Burnside with 13. Burnside and Max Montes (9 games played) pace the current Buckeyes with five goals against the Badgers and Damien Carfagna (9 gp) has a team-best four assists vs. UW. Montes leads with eight career points vs. the Badgers and Burnside is second with six.
- Ohio State will hit the road for the final time in the regular season, traveling to No. 4/3 Minnesota next weekend. The teams will meet at 8 p.m. ET Feb. 21 and at 6 p.m. ET Feb. 22.
- The regular season wraps up with a home series vs. No. 12 Michigan. Puck drop is slated for 8 p.m. Feb. 27 and 6 p.m. Feb. 28 in Value City Arena.
