COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Joe Wilson IV fired a career-best 5-under 67 to lead the Buckeyes in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Monday at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Wilson IV made six birdies and just one birdie in his round. The six birdies were his second-most in a round only behind the seven he made in his previous low round of 69 at the Xavier Invitational back in October of 2022. He is tied for fifth, just two shots off the opening round lead.
Freshman Vaughn Harber finished with a round of 3-over 75 while Jack Vojtko, Tyler Sabo and Timotej Formanek all carded an opening round of 76. As a team, the Buckeyes are in 13th place at 6-over par.
The second round starts again with a 7:30 a.m. ET shotgun start on Tuesday and the Buckeyes are paired with Big Ten foes Iowa and Wisconsin.
