COLUMBUS, Ohio – The top two teams in Division I women's hockey meet this weekend in Columbus as the No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team hosts No. 1 Wisconsin Dec. 5-6 at the OSU Ice Rink.
The 2025 national championship rematch between the Buckeyes (15-1-0, 11-1-0 WCHA) and Badgers (16-1-1, 10-1-1 WCHA) is set for 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.

Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- While Ohio State is second to the Badgers in the national rankings, the Buckeyes lead the WCHA conference with 32 points on the year. Wisconsin follows close behind with 31. Ohio State
- The Buckeyes are earning five first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and seven in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. The team has 273 total votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. five shy of top-ranked Wisconsin. In the USCHO.com poll, Ohio State received 284 points this week with 11 separating it from Wisconsin.
- The team is ranked top five nationally in points (196), goals (81), assists (115), scoring margin (3.38), scoring offense (5.06), faceoff win percentage (.614), shutouts (4) and win percentage (.938).
- Ohio State is home to two of the top scoring players in the NCAA this season. Svensson and Joy Dunne are two of just seven players in the country to hit the 30-point mark.
- Svensson has recorded a team-high 31 points while Dunne is at 30 for the year. Dunne leads the country with 2.14 points per game and 1.21 goals per game. Svensson's 1.19 assists per game rank second nationally and she is also in the top 10 in the goals and points per game categories.
- The duo picked up WCHA monthly awards this week with Dunne earning Forward of the Month and Svensson earning Rookie of the Month honors for the second consecutive month. Dunne earned the forward of the week title twice in November and Svensson added two rookie of the week nods last month. Svensson has won both of the league's rookie of the month awards.
- Ohio State's penalty kill is 55-for-62 for an 88 percent success rate in 16 games this season, ranking sixth best in the country. The unit has improved in the last month for the Buckeyes, standing at third in the country at 95 percent since the beginning of November.
- The Buckeyes have shut out their last two opponents, with an 8-0 win over Clarkson and a 5-0 win over Colgate last weekend. The last time the team recorded back-to-back shutouts was Jan. 10 and 11 against Bemidji State. Ohio State last's consecutive shut outs against different teams was the 2023-24 season with an 8-0 victory over Bemidji State (March 2) and following that with a 5-0 win against Minnesota Duluth (March 8).
- Ohio State is six wins shy of 500 in program history. The team is 494-390-82 all-time. Nadine Muzerall is the program's winningest coach with a 239-82-22 record as the Buckeyes' bench boss.
- Ohio State won the D1 in DC Tournament, earning wins over No. 10 Clarkson (8-0) and then-ranked No. 12 Colgate (5-0).
- The Buckeyes held the Golden Knights to just nine shots on goal in game one, with Hailey MacLeod earning the shutout. Hilda Svensson recorded her first career hat trick and she and Joy Dunne finished the game with five points apiece.Â
- Genny Klein earned her first career shutout with 17 saves in game two. Kassidy Carmichael recorded back-to-back two-goal games.
- This weekend's series between the Buckeyes and Badgers marks the first meeting between the teams since the 2025 national championship game.
- Wisconsin has the advantage in the overall series, 82-28-11, but in the last five seasons the teams are even at 13-13-1.
- The lone tie in the last five seasons came in the Big Ten Frozen Confines game at Wrigley Field, with the teams skating to a 3-3 tie, but Ohio State winning the extra point in the seven-round shootout.
- The Buckeyes and Badgers have met in the last three national title games, with all three matchups decided by one goal.
- The 2023 and 2024 games were settled by scores of 1-0, with Wisconsin winning in 2023 and Ohio State in 2024. Last season's game was a 4-3 overtime win in favor of the Badgers.
- The teams will face off in Madison, Wis. Feb. 7-8.
