COLUMBUS, Ohio – Blake Eiland is a senior short stick defensive midfielder for the Ohio State men's lacrosse team.. An All-American for the Buckeyes in 2025, Eiland has played in 45 games in three seasons as a Buckeye, recording 18 goals, five assists, 43 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. The Delaware, Ohio native is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and is majoring in finance.

What age did you start playing lacrosse?
"I started playing lacrosse at six years old. I was introduced to it by my brother and my dad."
What's your favorite thing about the sport?
"My favorite thing about lacrosse is the speed of the game and my favorite part about defensive midfield is how challenging it is."
Why did you choose to come to Ohio State?
"I chose to come to Ohio State because I always wanted to be a Buckeye. Growing up in central Ohio, going to Ohio State was always my number one goal. And once I saw the brotherhood and the culture at Ohio State, it was a no brainer."
How have you seen yourself grow in your time at Ohio State?
"I have seen my self grow in many ways, but the one that sticks out to me of my confidence. My confidence as a player and as a leader as grown tremendously, and that is thanks to my teammates and coaches always instilling this confidence in me on and off the field."
What makes Ohio State special?
"The thing that makes Ohio State special is the people. Everyone at Ohio State treats each other like family. Our team is a tight knit brotherhood that operates like a family. Our family has a set of standards that we do a great job of holding each other to, and that's what makes us special."
What is something not everyone knows about you?
"Something that people don't know about me is that I enjoy playing the guitar and enjoy making music in general."
What does it mean to you as a kid from Ohio to get to play for and captain the Ohio State men's lacrosse team?
"Being a caption of the Ohio State men's lacrosse team as a kid from Ohio means everything to me. This has always been a dream of mine since I picked up a stick. It really showed me that hard work does pay off, but I can humbly say that I could of did this without a great support system from my family and my faith."
What is your favorite Ohio State tradition?
"My favorite tradition at Ohio State is singing the fight song in the locker room after a win."
What excites you about the 2026 season?
"What excites me about this season is that I get to go out there with my brothers and my best friends and do what we love to do. I get to lay it all on the line one last time and compete in the sport I love with people I love."
