COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced the men's gymnastics preseason coaches' poll and Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch list on Thursday. Senior captain Jesse Pakele and sophomore all-arounder David Ramirez were selected as Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch.
This is Pakele's second consecutive season being named a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch. He is the reigning Big Ten floor champion after earning a 14.075 by sticking every pass in his routine. In 2025, Pakele was named a CGA regular season All-American on floor and to the All-Big Ten First Team. He was ranked fifth (14.006) in the country on floor and 24th on parallel bars (13.250) based on national-qualifying average. Pakele qualified individually on rings for the NCAA Championships and took an additional floor title at Nebraska (3/8). He was a consistent member in the Buckeye lineup on floor, rings and parallel bars.
Ramirez was named a CGA regular season All-American on vault last season as a freshman, also earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshmen Team.
