COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4/5 Ohio State (1-0) opened the 2025-26 dual season with a 42-4 win at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (3-0) Sunday at McKenzie Arena.

The Buckeyes won nine of the 10 matches with seven bonus-point victories. Â

125 - (17) Brendan McCrone (OSU) def. Ty Tice (UTC), D, 4-2
McCrone scored first with a takedown for a 3-0 lead before a Tice reversal made it 3-2 after the first period. McCrone chose top to open the second and built riding time. There was no score change going to the third. From bottom McCrone got the escape for a 4-2 advantage early in the third and held on for the win by decision.

133 - (9) Ben Davino (OSU) def. Ethan Lipsey UTC), TF, 19-4
Davino led 6-1 after a pair of early takedowns around a Lipsey escape headed to the second period. Lipsey trailed 10-2 before another pair of Davino takedowns and Lipsey escape made it 16-3 after five minutes. Lipsey earned an escape leading to a final takedown for the win by technical fall, 19-4.

Out of the gates, Mendez scored the takedown for a 3-1 lead after a Mason escape. An end-of-the-mat takedown and escape upped the lead to 6-2. The period ended with Ohio State leading 12-3. Mendez deferred choice and Mason chose down to open the second. Mendez closed out the match with a couple takedowns to win by technical fall, 21-6

Geog got out of the gate with a pair of takedowns for a 6-1 lead. Geog added a pair of near fall points to make it 8-1. Geog led 11-2 after three minutes. With an escape and takedown early in the second, Geog increased the lead to 15-2. Rule responded with a takedown to make it 15-6, Geog, going to the third. Rule scored a takedown midway through the third to make it 16-9 after a Geog escape. Rule added another takedown but fell by decision to Geog, 16-12

HWT - (6) Nick Feldman (OSU) def. Ethan Vergara (UTC), 22-5
Feldman jumped to a 9-2 lead with three takedowns. Feldman kept attacking in building a 15-4 advantage before a takedown and four-point near fall ended the bout with Feldman winning by technical fall, 22-5.

In the Open Division, redshirt sophomore Vinny Kilkeary won the 125-pound bracket with a 3-0 record. At 197, redshirt junior Seth Shumate also took the crown after going 3-0.
