
WCHA Names Dunne, Kressin Players of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named its players of the week Monday with Ohio State women's hockey student-athletes Joy Dunne and Taylor Kressin earning awards. Dunne is the WCHA Forward of the Week and Kressin won her first WCHA Goaltender of the Week award following the series sweep of No. 13 St. Thomas.Â

Dunne led the Buckeyes with six points and four goals in the series against the Tommies. All six of her points came in the 8-0 game two win for a career high points and goals in a game. For the second time in three games the O'Fallon, Mo. native recorded a hat trick in a period, scoring three goals in the second period against St. Thomas.Â

For the second series in a row, Dunne has recorded the most goals in a game by a WCHA player this season. She was the first player to score a hat trick last week and now is the first to score four times in a game. Her six points are also the most in a single game by a WCHA player this season.

In her first career road games, Kressin improved to 3-0-0 on the year with the sweep of St. Thomas. In game one, she made a then-career high 15 saves against the Tommies to help the Buckeyes to the 3-2 overtime win. The Moorhead, Minn. native posted her first career shutout with a career high 20 saves in the game two 8-0 win.

Kressin's 1.00 goals against average was the best in the conference last weekend and her .947 save percentage was the best among league goaltenders who played in two games.
