COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State heads out on the road for the first time this season when it plays at Pitt on Friday evening at the Petersen Events Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN. Mike Corey and Terrence Oglesby will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Neil Sika and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
- The Buckeyes opened the year with six consecutive home victories, marking the first time they are 6-0 since 2019.
- Friday’s game, which will be the return of the home-and-home series, will be the 27th meeting all-time between the two teams, but just the fourth since 1962. Ohio State officially leads the series 15-11.
- Last year’s game in Columbus was a great one as Pitt’s Zack Austin hit a three-pointer with less than a second to play in overtime to give the Panthers a 91-90 victory.
- The Buckeyes are coming off the largest win in the short Jake Diebler era, blasting Mount St. Mary’s 113-60 on Tuesday night.
- Three different Buckeyes notched career-highs in the win over Mount St. Mary’s. John Mobley Jr. led all scorers with a career-high 26 points on 4-of-9 from long range. Ivan Njegoven was a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor and had a career-high 15 points. Taison Chatman got hot late and canned three three-pointers to finish with a career-high nine points.
- The Buckeyes lead the country in two-point shooting percentage at 67.4 percent. They have also had just five shots blocks, which is only 2.8 percent of their shot attempts and that is also tops in the nation.
- Bruce Thornton, who leads the team in scoring at 21.0 ppg, is just nine points away from moving into the Top 10 in program history for career scoring. He is currently at 1,613 career points.
- Mobley Jr. has made multiple three-pointers in every game this season and is averaging 16.8 points per game.
- Big man Christoph Tilly is not only shooting great around the rim (25-of-32, 78.1 percent), but he is also passing it well. He is averaging 3.7 assists per game. Since 1990, only four players nationally 7-0 or taller have averaged 3.5 assists per game for an entire season.
- Pitt has dropped three of its last four games and is 4-3 overall on the season. Cameron Corhen leads the team at 14.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. He is also tops in the ACC in minutes per game at 34:38.
