COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will wrap its season-opening six-game home stand on Tuesday when the Buckeyes host Mount St. Mary’s at Value City Arena. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN. Jack Kizer and former Ohio State captain Joey Lane will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
Tuesday is Kid’s Takeover Night. Activities include:
- John Mobley Jr. Drawstring Bag giveaway first 1,000 youth (12 & under)
- Pregame activities like face painting, balloon twisting, caricature artist, interactive games
- Postgame layups (12 & under)
- Meijer Toy Drive - fans are encouraged to bring and donate new or gently used toys for local families in need this holiday season
Notes
- The Buckeyes are off to a 5-0 start and will look for its first 6-0 start since they won the first nine games of the 2019-20 season.
- Ohio State is coming off a convincing 91-58 win over Western Michigan last Thursday night. Five Buckeyes scored in double figures, led by Christoph Tilly with 17 points and a career-high seven assists. Devin Royal and freshman Amare Bynum each had double-doubles in the win, marking the first double-double of Bynum’s career.
- This will be just the third all-time meeting between Ohio State and Mount St. Mary’s. The Buckeyes have won each of the first two meetings, both of which were in Columbus as well, in 1989 and 2015.
- Mount St. Mary’s most recent game was also against Western Michigan on Sunday. The Mountaineers fell 83-60 and are 1-5 on the year. But they have played their last two Power 5 teams tough, leading Cincinnati by six at halftime and taking Maryland to overtime in College Park last Wednesday.
- Senior guard Bruce Thornton is leading the team in scoring at 22.4 ppg and he is just one point away from 1,600 in his career. He has made multiple three-pointers in each of the first five games this season.
- Christoph Tilly is averaging 17.0 points per game and has 19 assists, which is second-most on the team behind John Mobley Jr.’s 20 assists. He is shooting 79.3 percent (23-of-29) on two-point attempts this season.
- Mobley Jr. has also made multiple threes in every game this season and is third on the team at 15.0 ppg. He is a team-best 20-of-21 from the free throw line.
- Gabe Cupps has come off the bench and recorded at least one steal in every game this season.
- Big man Ivan Njegovan had two assists in 21 games last season. This year, he has seven assists in the first five games.
