COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2020-21 season and will look for a fifth consecutive win when the Buckeyes host Western Michigan on Thursday night at Value City Arena. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN. Jack Kizer and Jordan Taylor will call the action.

Thursday is Dollar Dog Night at the Schott and the second annual Weiner Dog Race will take place at halftime.
- The Buckeyes are 4-0 all-time against Western Michigan, winning three-consecutive games from 1966-68 and then winning again two years ago in 2023.
- The game in 2023 was almost exactly two years to the day of this year’s meeting as the Buckeyes won 73-56 on Nov. 19. Bruce Thornton had 12 points and five assists while a freshman Devin Royal came off the bench to score two points and grab two rebounds. Those are the only two Buckeyes still on the roster from that game.
- The Buckeyes are in the midst of a six-game homestand to open the season. Under head coach Jake Diebler, the Buckeyes are 10-1 in early season non-conference home games.
- Ohio State is coming off a thrilling 64-63 victory over Notre Dame last Sunday. Christoph Tilly connected on a drive lay-up with just under 10 seconds to play to put the Buckeyes in front and the defense made a final stop at the horn. Tilly ended with 18 points and a pair of blocks. Bruce Thornton led all scorers with 24 points on 4-of-7 from long range.
- Thornton is the top scorer in the Big Ten at 25.3 ppg. He’s also in the Top 10 in the league in shooting percentage at 65.3 overall and 56.5 from long range.
- Thornton has moved into 13th in program history in career scoring at 1,588 points. He is just nine points from catching Robin Freeman (1954-56) for 12th place and just 34 points away from the Top 10.
- Tilly is off to a solid start to the season, averaging 17.0 ppg through four games. He’s also 19-of-22 (86.4 percent) from 2-point range.
- Freshman Amare Bynum played a season-high 20 minutes in the win over Notre Dame on Sunday. He only scored four points but provided a spark that helped the Buckeyes get over the hump in the second half. Bynum has averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds through his first four games.
- Western Michigan is coming off an 83-78 setback at South Dakota on Sunday. Thursday’s game will be the first of just two games against Power 5 opponents for the Broncos as they will also play at Iowa on Dec. 14. Jayden Brewer leads the team in scoring at 17.2 ppg and had three double-doubles in the first five games.
