Ohio State Travels to No. 1 UConn for Sunday Matinee

The Buckeyes and Huskies will play at noon in a game broadcast on Peacock.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The RV/25 Ohio State women's basketball team (2-0) travels to No. 1 UConn (3-0) for a Sunday matinee. Tip-off on Peacock is scheduled for 12 p.m.
- Ohio State defeated Bellarmine by a 90-33 margin on Thursday night.
- The Buckeye defense held an opponent scoreless in a quarter for the first time in program history on Thursday, outscoring the Knights 26-0 through the first 10 minutes of play.
- The Buckeyes totaled 65 rebounds - the first time since Nov. 10, 2027 that they surpassed 60. Ella Hobbs led the way with 10 - her first collegiate game with 10 or more rebounds.
- All 11 Buckeyes scored as Jaloni Cambridge (18), Dasha Biriuk (15), Chance Gray (14) and Ava Watson (11) reached double figures. This was Biriuk's first double-figure collegiate game.
- No. 1 UConn started its season with three wins, beating then No. 20 Louisville (79-66), Florida State (99-67) and Loyola Chicago (85-31).
- The reigning national champion Huskies are the favorites again this season, earning nearly every first-place vote in both the AP and WBCA polls.
- Sarah Strong was named a Preseason AP All-American, Preseason Big East Player of the Year, to the watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Katrina McClain Award and Wade Trophy.
- Azzi Fudd (Ann Meyers Drysdale Award), Caroline Ducharme (Cheryl Miller Award) and Serah Williams (Lisa Leslie Award) were also named to the watch lists for their respective positions. Fudd and Williams joined Strong on the watch lists for the Naismith Trophy and Wade Award.
- Ohio State trails 1-6 in the all-time series against UConn. The Huskies have won both previous matchups in Hartford, most recently an 85-53 decision on Nov. 11, 2018.
- The Buckeyes won the most recent meeting with the Huskies, a 73-61 victory in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 round in Seattle, Wash. It was the Buckeyes' first win of the series against UConn and gave Ohio State its first Elite Eight appearance in 30 years.
