COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 22 Ohio State women’s soccer team got a goal early in the second half and held off Oregon 1-0 on Thursday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The goal was a milestone moment for freshman Riley Lijewski.
In her first career start, Lijewski collected a pass from Amanda Schlueter and scored her first collegiate goal in the 52nd minute, giving the Buckeyes the lead. They held on to extend their unbeaten streak to 11 matches and are now 6-1-6 on the year and 2-0-5 in Big Ten matches.

The shutout was the ninth of the season for the Buckeyes who has allowed just four goals in 13 matches. This was also goalkeeper Molly Pritchard’s 30th career shutout as she is now the program’s all-time leader in career shutouts.
A lively crowd enjoyed the back-and-forth opening half, with Ohio State controlling much of the action. The Buckeyes outshot Oregon 9-7 in the first 45 minutes, including several on target, and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Ohio State dominated possession, building cleanly from the back and generating quality chances. Elle Britt, Callie Tumilty, and Amanda Schlueter each tested Oregon goalkeeper Caeley Goldstein, who made key saves to keep the Ducks in the game.
Oregon created a few dangerous moments on the counter, including shots from Savannah Holley and Abella Hunter, but Ohio State goalkeeper Molly Pritchard was solid between the posts, anchoring a steady back line.
The second half saw the Buckeyes maintain pressure while making several strategic substitutions to keep fresh legs on the field. Ohio State created multiple scoring opportunities after Lijewski’s goal, with Tumilty, Britt, and Schlueter all forcing saves or narrowly missing the target.
Despite a 16-14 advantage in shots and a 7-5 margin in corners through the second half, Ohio State relied on Lijewski’s big strike and strong team defense to maintain their 1-0 edge.
