Ohio State Falls to Washington in Late-Night Meeting in Seattle

This was the Buckeyes’ first four-set match of the season.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (3-8, 0-3 B1G) fell in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 19-25) against Washington (6-7, 1-2 B1G) on Friday night in Seattle. Â

Washington opened scoring in the match and did not trail in the first set, earning a 25-22 set win. Ohio State used a pair of 5-0 runs in the second set to even the match with a 25-21 set win. The Huskies took an early lead in the third set and earned a 25-19 set win. The fourth set featured runs by both teams, but Washington ended the match with a 25-19 set win.

- S1: Washington opened scoring and used a 3-0 run to build an 11-6 lead, prompting an Ohio State timeout. The Buckeyes trailed by six at 15-9 before using a 3-0 run to get back within two at 16-14 on a kill from Sydney Wyman. The Buckeyes fought off a trio of Huskies set points but fell by a 25-22 margin in the opening set.
- S2: Ohio State struck first but it was Washington that held an early 7-5 lead. The Buckeyes responded with a 5-0 run and then led by a 13-9 mark before the Huskies tied the set at 13. Ohio State strung together another five unanswered points to take a 20-16 lead and held off a late Washington push to earn a 25-21 set win on a kill from Reese Wuebker.
- S3: The Huskies started quickly, building a 9-3 lead to prompt a Buckeye timeout. Ohio State battled back to cut the deficit to 14-12. Washington responded with back-to-back points and the teams traded points down the stretch. The Huskies won the set by a 25-19 margin.
- S4: Washington scored first, but Ohio State tied the set at six. The Huskies regained the lead and strung together four unanswered points to build a 14-9 advantage. Washington led by as many as eight points at 18-10, but Ohio State chipped away and got back within two at 21-19. The Huskies scored the final four points of the set to cap the match with a 25-19 set win.
- This is the fourth time this season that the Buckeyes have had three or more players with 10 kills apiece.
- This was the Buckeyes' first four-set match of the season.
- Reese Wuebker reached 10 kills for the seventh time this season, finishing the match with 14 kills tonight.
- Hannah Jones totaled at least 10 kills in a match for the seventh time this season as she tied for the match-high 16 kills tonight.
- Ashley Carr recorded kills on each of her first six attempts of the match. She hit .500 in the match and tied her career-high 11 kills.
- S1: Wuebker led the team with four kills in the set.
- S2: The set featured nine ties and four lead changes, but the Buckeyes also recorded two 5-0 runs.
- Ohio State wraps up its west coast trip at Oregon on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live on B1G+.Â
