All Buckeye Final Set in Doubles at ITA Midwest Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State advanced a doubles team out of each semifinal Sunday at the ITA Midwest Regional at the XS Tennis Center in Chicago. One pair will earn the title Monday and earn a spot in the NCAA Championships later this fall.

DePaul is the host school for the event.

The two singles finalists and the doubles champion from each regional will automatically qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships, set to take place at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, Nov. 18-23, 2025.

The Buckeye doubles team of Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima was the first pair to advance to the finals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad of Notre Dame. Ohio State was assured an all Buckeye final when Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico took on Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo in the other semifinal. Bernard and Okonkwo prevailed in a close match, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5. The final is set for 11 a.m. Monday.

In singles, Prestern Stearns defeated teammate Loren Byers 6-3, 7-6(2) to earn a spot in the semifinals Monday. Stearns will face another teammate in the semis.

Jack Anthrop defeated Adam Jilly of Illinois 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to move on to face Stearns. The Anthrop/Stearns semifinal is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

Kim was the runner-up at the 2005 ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in September. He earned an automatic bid into the NCAA individual championships and will not compete in singles during the remaining fall collegiate schedule prior to the NCAA championships.
