Junior made run to ITA All-American semifinals
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Junior Teah Chavez of the Ohio State women's tennis team was named Big Ten co-Athlete of the Week after making a run to the semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships and earning an NCAA berth.
At the ITA All-American Championships, Chavez posted four wins over Top 60 opponents, all in straight sets. The No. 7 seed and No. 11-ranked player, she downed the No. 57, No. 37, No. 13 and No. 43 players before falling to No. 6 ranked and No. 4 seed Valerie Glozman of Stanford, the eventual champion. As a Chavez , she earned her first NCAA singles tournament berth.
In doubles, Chavez and Luciana Perry won twice in qualifying to earn a main draw spot and then notched a first round victory before losing to the No. 1 seed.
