COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team opens the 2025-26 season this weekend with a road trip to No. 7 Colgate. The two-game non-conference series will be played at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton, N.Y.Â

Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- Ohio State is second in both national polls entering the first series of the season. The Buckeyes were voted second in the WCHA preseason coaches' poll in a tie with Minnesota. Ohio State is slated to play seven teams ranked in the top 15 by USCHO.com this season. Â
- The Buckeyes are led in 2025-26 by captains Jocelyn Amos and Emma Peschel and assistant captains Joy Dunne and Sloane Matthews.
- Dunne and Amos return as the team's leading scorers last season with 62 and 52 points respectively. The duo were the only players on the team with more than 20 goals on the year. Amos was also the team's top power play scorer, with 10 goals on the player advantage last year. Including Peschel (34 points), the team returns three of its top five point producers from 2024-25.
- Dunne and Peschel represented Ohio State on the Preseason All-WCHA team, making Ohio State one of two programs to have multiple representatives on the team.
- Ohio State's 2025-26 roster has 13 returning players from last season and welcomes nine newcomers. The roster represents four countries, six states and three Canadian provinces.
- The roster includes five players with IIHF Women's World Championship experience in Joy Dunne (United States), Mira Jungaker (Sweden), Hilda Svensson (Sweden), Jenna Raunio (Sweden) and Sanni Vanhanen (Finland). Thirteen current Buckeyes skated with their national teams this summer. In addition to the aforementioned players, Peschel, Matthews and Kaia Malachino earned a USA Hockey National Festival invite and Amos, Jordan Baxter, Maxine Cimoroni, Hailey MacLeod and Sara Swiderski skated with Canada's Women's Development Team.
- Ohio State head coach Nadine Muzerall enters her 10th season at the helm of the Buckeyes. She is the program's winningest head coach with a 224-81-22 record and a .719 win percentage.
- Ohio State and Colgate will meet for the first time since 2023 in this weekend's season opener.
- Ohio State is 4-2-2 all-time against Colgate. The Buckeyes are 2-1-1 against the Raiders on the road.
- In the last meeting between the teams, the Buckeyes opened their 2023-24 national championship season by splitting the series in Hamilton, N.Y. Colgate took the first game, 3-2, and Ohio State won game two with a 3-2 overtime result.
- Ohio State and Colgate will face off once more in the 2025-26 regular season, meeting Nov. 29 in the D1 in DC tournament. The teams will also play Clarkson, with the Buckeyes and Golden Knights playing Nov. 28.
