COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team earned its third straight conference sweep with a 4-1 victory over Minnesota State Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink. With the win, the Buckeyes improved to 20-5-3 overall and 14-5-3 in conference play.
Short Story
It took 37:45 for the first goal of the game to be scored, but once Ohio State junior defender Brooke Disher lit the lamp with 2:15 to play in the second period, the Buckeyes tripled their lead in the next 15 minutes.
The third period started with two Buckeye goals, one from Joy Dunne at 5:32 and a second from Kiara Zanon at 11:26. Minnesota State managed to score at 12:19 to cut into the Buckeyes' lead.
The Mavericks pulled goaltender Jessie McPherson with under two minutes left in regulation for the sixth skater, but freshman defender Mira Jungåker scored on the empty net with five seconds remaining to finalize the 4-1 win.
Buckeye goaltender Hailey MacLeod made 17 saves, 10 of which came in the third period, in the game.
