
Buckeyes Rack Up NCAA Times on Day One of Tim Welsh Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team is in the lead after the first day of the Tim Welsh Classic on Friday. The Buckeyes have 1,031 points and are 450 points ahead of second-place Akron (581 points).
The No. 14 Buckeye men's swimmers are the only men's swim team at the event. The men's divers are competing against Notre Dame and Wisconsin and lead with 78 points.
Women's Meet Notes

Women's Meet Notes
- The Buckeyes placed second in the 200 free relay, with the team of Teresa Ivan, Nyah Funderburke, Erin Little and Rachel Bockrath turning in an NCAA provisional standard time of 1:28.94.
- Mila Nikanorov (4:41.76), Lucy Malys (4:43.38), Gwen Woodbury (4:45.32) and Emma Finlin (4:46.08) finished 1-2-3-4 in the 500 free. All four times are NCAA B cuts.
- Hall and Paige Delma tied for first in the 200 IM, both with a time of 1:57.41. The time is an NCAA B standard.
- Ivan placed second in the 50 free, finishing in an NCAA B standard time of 22.36.
- The Buckeyes took the top three spots in the 400 medley relay. Allie Fenska, Ava DeAngelis, Jessica Eden and Little (3:34.37) placed first, Funderburke, Maria Ramos, Hall and Sienna Angove (3:35.04) finished second and Krista Marlin, Reese Dehen, Delma and Ivan (3:36.93) placed third.
- Ohio State won the 200 medley relay with the team of Fenska, Ramos, Funderburke and Ivan finishing in an NCAA B cut of 1:36.27. The team of Marlin, DeAngelis, Hall and Bockrath (1:38.36) placed third.
- Delma (4:11.42), Marlin (4:12.89) and Finlin (4:14.40) placed second, third and fourth in the 400 IM, respectively.
- Funderburke finished second in the 100 fly with an NCAA B cut of 52.51.
- Paola Pineda Vazques (347.30), Lena Hentschel (327.85) and Mia Prusiecki (300.00) finished 2-3-4 on the 3-meter. All of their scores are NCAA Zones qualifiers.
- The Buckeyes swept the top three spots in the 200 free. Angove placed first with a time of 1:45.53, Little finished second with a time of 1:45.70 and Tia Lindsay placed third with a time of 1:47.60. Angove's and Little's times are both NCAA B cuts.
- In the 100 breast, DeAngelis (59.71), Ramos (1:00.64), Delma (1:01.05), Dehen (1:01.37) and Nell Cagle (1:01.55) finished 1-2-3-4-5. DeAngelis, Ramos and Delma all recorded NCAA B cuts.
- Hall (53.05) and Fenska (53.21) placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 back. Both times are NCAA B standards.
- The Buckeyes closed out day one at Notre Dame with a victory in the 800 free relay, with the team of Angove, Little, Nikanorov and Bockrath finishing in 7:06.78.
- In the 200 free relay, the team of Matt Klinge, Daniel Baltes, Tomas Navikonis and Mario McDonald turned in the fastest time with a 1:18.13.
- Alex Metzler had the top time in the 500 free for the Buckeyes, touching the wall at 4:20.64, which is an NCAA B cut. TJ Frost also turned in an NCAA B cut, finishing in 4:21.16.
- In the 200 IM, Tristan Jankovics (1:44.25) touched first. His time is an NCAA B standard.
- Klinge's NCAA B standard time of 19.58 in the 50 free led the Buckeyes.
- The fastest time in the 400 medley relay went to the team of Cornelius Jahn, Jankovics, Klinge and Navikonis with a 3:09.31.
- Jahn, Karl Helmuth, Klinge and Baltes finished the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:24.86.
- Metzler also turned in the fastest time for the Buckeyes in the 400 IM, finishing in 3:46.18, which is an NCAA B standard time. Jordi Vilchez also swam an NCAA B cut, finishing in 3:49.04.
- Klinge also led the way in the 100 fly with an NCAA B cut of 46.69.
- Clayton Chaplin won the 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 375.25. Dom Roberto (350.20), Kylie Flory (320.45), Tyler Read (306.80) and Hamish Patel (300.70) also recorded NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
- Navikonis turned in an NCAA B standard time of 1:33.92 in the 200 free to finish first for the Buckeyes. Jankovics touched second with an NCAA B cut of 1:34.72.
- Helmuth had the fastest time in the 100 breast, touching the wall at 53.36, which is an NCAA B standard.
- Jahn swam an NCAA B cut in the 100 back with a time of 47.15.
- The Tim Welsh Classic wraps up on Saturday, Jan. 25, with competition beginning at 11:00 a.m.
