COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off one of the best finishes in program history, Ohio State men’s golf will embark on a new season next week as the Buckeyes will take part in the Folds of Honor Collegiate. The 54-hole event, which is being played at the American Dunes Golf Club, will run from Monday through Wednesday and Golf Channel will have three hours of coverage each day.
Ohio State’s lineup this week will be Tyler Sabo, Jack Vojtko, Joe Wilson IV, Vaughn Harber and Jacob Tarkany.
With the graduation of five seniors from last year, this year’s team will feature a mix of young talent. The five players in the Buckeyes lineup this week have combined to play in just 37 collegiate events. Jacob Tarkany is the most experienced of the group, having played in 17 career events over three seasons.
Tyler Sabo played in eight events last year as a redshirt-freshmen, including the NCAA Championship. He had a great run at the NCAAs, helping the team reach the match play portion and then halving his quarterfinal match and posting one of two wins in the semifinal match.
Jack Vojtko graduated high school early last December and enrolled at Ohio State for the 2023 spring semester. He made an immediate impact with a 17th place finish at 2-under par in his first collegiate event at the Southwestern Invitational, which the Buckeyes won. He also recorded his first collegiate victory at The Johnnie-O Individual.
Joe Wilson IV had hip and abdominal surgery last fall and redshirted last season as he worked his way back into form. He played in five events as a true freshman in 2022-23, with his best finish being a fifth-place finish at the Xavier Invitational.
Vaughn Harber, the 2023 OHSAA State Individual Champion, will be making his collegiate debut this week. The freshman from nearby Blacklick, Ohio, was named the Ohio District Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
The Ohio State women’s team will also be competing in the women’s event this week at American Dunes GC.
The Golf Channel will have men’s coverage from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and coverage from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
