COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.    Â
David Ajagbe | Men's Soccer | Fr. | Surrey, British ColumbiaÂ
- Ajagbe tied for the team scoring lead with four goals and two assists (10 pts.) last week.
- He gave the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead against Rutgers with a second-half goal in 3-0 win Sunday.
- Seven of 11 shots were on goal in wins at Penn State (5-0) and vs. Rutgers (3-0).
- He has started the last seven matches, all wins, in his rookie season. Â
Ava Bramblett | Women's Soccer | So. | Noblesville, Ind.Â
- Bramblett netted the gamewinning goal in the 90th minute to complete the comeback in a 2-1 victory over Northwestern on Sunday.Â
- She also played tremendously in a 1-1 draw with Iowa on Thursday to help keep the Buckeyes unbeaten in Big Ten play.Â
- Bramblett has scored two goals in the last three games and has helped the Buckeyes rise to No. 11 in the latest USC rankings.Â
Weston Day | Men's Cross Country | Fr. | Dublin, OhioÂ
- In just his second collegiate race, Day placed second among the Buckeyes and 18th overall at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by Minnesota last Friday.Â
- The true freshman completed the 8K in 25:28.3. Â
- Day was one of three Buckeye men in the Top 25, as the squad was fifth among 17 teams.Â
- He was also a counter for the Buckeyes in the first race of the season at Akron, where he finished sixth overall, running the 6K in 18:21.7. Â
Grace Egan | Women's Volleyball | R-Fr. | Sterling, Ill.Â
- Egan continues to grow as she returns from injury. This past weekend in a pair of wins against Bowling Green, Egan averaged 3.71 kills, 3.14 digs and 1.00 blocks per set , also leading the team with five aces. Â
- In Friday's four-set win, Egan earned career highs in kills (17), digs (15), blocks (7) and points (22.0). She recorded a kill on set point in the third set. Â
- In Sunday's sweep, she totaled nine kills, seven digs and tied her career-high four aces. She had kills to decide both the first set and the match. Â
- This season, Egan is averaging 2.62 kills, 1.64 digs and 0.54 blocks per set and is tied for second on the team with 10 aces.Â
Katie Fichtner | Field Hockey | Jr. | Harwood, Md.Â
- Fichtner was a key reason why Ohio State remained undefeated with wins last weekend over Michigan State and Brown.Â
- The junior defender had two goals and an assist. She scored in each game – both on penalty corner opportunities – and assisted on a Makenna Webster goal vs. Michigan State.Â
- On defense, Fichtner helped limit Michigan State and Brown to just three goals and just 19 total shots over 120 minutes of game action.Â
- The Buckeyes (8-0) matched their program record for the best start to a season and will look to make it nine consecutive wins on Sunday when they host No. 12 Louisville at 1 p.m. Â
Akemi Von Scherr | Women's Cross Country | Fifth Year | LaQuinta, Calif.Â
- Von Scherr led the Buckeyes at Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational last Friday, as she recorded a Top 20 finish.Â
- She was 17th overall, and first for Ohio State, running the 6K in 22:05.2.Â
- Von Scherr has been a Top 5 finisher for the Buckeyes in the seven combined Big Ten and NCAA Regional championships during her career.Â
Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson | Football | Jr. and Sr. | Pike Road, Ala. and Hopewell, Va.Â
- The backfield duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson combined for 249 yards on 20 carries with four touchdowns in Saturday's 49-14 win over Marshall.Â
- The pair had some explosive runs, too – Judkins went 86 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Henderson had a 40-yard score in the third quarter.Â
- Through three games, both Judkins and Henderson are averaging better than eight yards per carry – Judkins leads the Big Ten at 9.3 yards per rush while Henderson is third at 8.6.Â
- Their combined season numbers are also impressive: Judkins and Henderson have carried the ball 60 times for 547 yards (9.2 yards per carry) and scored nine touchdowns.
