COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Jack Vojtko fired a career-low 64 in the opening round of The Tindall on Monday morning and leads the Buckeyes through two rounds at 5-under par. The 54-hole event is being played at the beautiful Alderra Golf Club in Fall City, Wash.
As a team, Ohio State shot rounds of 272-289 and is in a tie for sixth. OSU’s 272 was the lowest opening round in 14-team field. For the 36-hole, the Buckeyes led the field in par-5 scoring at 21-under par.
Vojtko’s followed his morning round with a 2-over 73 and is tied for 10th at 5-under. He played the par-5s in a field-best 7-under par, which included an eagle on the par-5 12th in both the first and second rounds.
Freshman Vaughn Harber continued his solid start to the season as he carded rounds of 67-72 and is tied for 16th at 3-under-par. Tyler Sabo has been steady so far this year and Monday was another good day as he posted rounds of 69-71 and is a shot behind Harber at 2-under par.
Joe Wilson IV made five birdies in his rounds of 72-73 and is 3-over par. Timotej Formanek made his collegiate debut on Monday and finished with rounds of 72-74. Jacob Tarkany, who is playing as an individual, posted matching rounds of 74 and is tied for 57th.
The final round will begin at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning. The Buckeyes trail Utah by 13 shots but are just eight shots behind Pepperdine for second place.
