The Big Ten held women’s volleyball media days on Monday and Tuesday as all 18 Big Ten schools were represented.
CHICAGO – The Big Ten Conference held it's the third annual Big Ten Women's Volleyball Media Days on Monday and Tuesday in Chicago with all 18 teams represented. Head Coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg, senior Sydney Taylor and sophomore Mia Tuman attended media day.
Â
"I think it's a great opportunity to look at how you prepare for the postseason," Oldenburg said. "You play everyone once. This year we play three teams twice but everyone else you have one shot. It's going to come down to how well you prepare during the week, how good your scouting reports are and how well you can make adjustments inside the match. You can't wait until the next time you play."
Â
Media day featured interviews with BTN in multiple capacities (BTN Courtside, At The Net, BTN Digital Studio, BTN Main Studio), SiriusXM, Just Women's Sports, On Her Turf and a live press conference (TRANSCRIPT). The day wrapped up with a photoshoot. View photos from Big Ten media day HERE.
Â
"I think that's what makes our team so special," Tuman said. "Everyone is bringing the energy in a different way. The key to our game is to do what we always do – play our game."
Â
"Whether it's students, fans or family, I think [the support] is so special," Taylor said. "How many people come and show up for us, whether it's a good day or bad day, but having my family there – I always know where they're at. It's funny because I don't need to look at them – I just feel them and their presence there and that's really special to me."
Â
Ohio State's season opens on August 30 against Florida International in a tournament held at Dayton. The Buckeyes kick off their home schedule with the Sports Imports Classic on Sept. 13-15, beginning with a match against Miami (FL) on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
Â
Mini plans for the 2024 season can be purchased HERE, while single match tickets are set to go on sale on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Ohio State students are free with a valid BuckID. Fans with ticketing questions should call the Ohio State Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BUCKS or email athletic.tix@osu.edu.
