Ohio State Sweeps FIU in Season Opener at Dayton Flyer Invitational

DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (1-0) earned the sweep (25-22, 25-21, 25-14) against Florida International (0-2) in the 2024 season opener on Friday at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

The Buckeyes used a 7-0 run midway through the first set to claim a 25-22 set victory. OSU took its first lead of the second set at 17-16 and earned a 25-21 set win. The Buckeyes scored the first four points of the third set and cruised to a 25-14 set win to complete the sweep.

Emily Londot led the Ohio State offense with 14 kills, while Olivia Hasbrook totaled 13 digs in her collegiate debut. Grace Egan reached 10 kills and Eloise Brandewie led the match with a .533 hitting percentage (8K-0E-15A). Mia Tuman totaled 38 assists, which is a career-high for a three-set match, and surpassed 1,000 career assists.

Ohio State opened scoring in the match and used three-consecutive points to take an early 5-2 lead. FIU used a 5-0 run to take its first lead of the afternoon at 12-9. The Buckeyes took a 16-15 lead following a 4-0 run, forcing an FIU timeout. Ohio State extended its run to 7-0 and their lead to 19-15. The Panthers would get no closer than two points before Londot sealed a 25-22 set win with her sixth kill of the match.
