COLUMBUS, Ohio – The RV Ohio State women's volleyball team opens the 2024 season at the Dayton Flyer Invitational this weekend.

The Buckeyes face Florida International on Friday at 5 p.m. before playing two matches on Saturday against Northern Iowa at 11 a.m. and No. 22 Dayton at 7 p.m. The match against Dayton will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Graduate students Emily Londot and Rylee Rader and seniors Sydney Taylor and Meghan McCann will serve as the 2024 captains.
The Buckeyes boast the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, adding six freshmen - Ava Shankle, Olivia Hasbrook, Emmi Sellman, Reese Wuebker, Abby Yoder and Kaia Castle - this season. OSU also added junior Ella Wrobel to the ranks after she spent her two seasons at Wisconsin.
Londot was named to the All-Big Ten Preseason Team after being a unanimous selection for the All-Big Ten First Team last season. In 2023, she finished in the top-six nationally in both kills/set (5.06) and points/set (5.51).
FIU wrapped up the 2023 season with a 13-19 record and was an even 8-8 in conference play.
The Panthers made it to the CUSA Tournament semifinals last season.
Ohio State won the only previous meeting with FIU, sweeping the Panthers (30-15, 30-23, 30-23) in Columbus on Sept. 17, 2004.
UNI earned a 26-7 overall record last season and went a perfect 18-0 during conference play. The Panthers dropped only six sets during MVC play and were selected to repeat as league champions in this season's preseason poll.
UNI won the MVC Tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament, where the Panthers fell to Miami (FL) in the first round - snapping a 21-match win streak which ranked fourth in the nation (at the time) and was the eighth-longest in school history.
This is the first meeting between Ohio State and Northern Iowa.
Dayton opens the season ranked No. 22 in the AVCA poll after finishing the 2023 season with a 32-3 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in conference play.
The Flyers won the Atlantic 10 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell in the second round to No. 10 Washington State after beating RV Pepperdine in the first round.
Ohio State leads the all-time series against Dayton by a 14-9 mark, though the Flyers have the 5-3 advantage when hosting the Buckeyes in Dayton.
The is the first meeting between the Buckeyes and Flyers during the Jen Flynn Oldenburg era.
The most recent two meetings in Dayton both went to five sets. The Buckeyes' most recent road win against the Flyers came on December 4, 2010 (25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 24-26, 16-14) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
