COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men's lacrosse defender Marcus Hudgins was selected by the Philadelphia Waterdogs in Tuesday night's 2024 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft. The Waterdogs drafted Hudgins in the third round with the 23rd overall pick.

Hudgins was a critical piece of the Buckeyes' defense, which was touted as one of the top units in the country, in 2024. The First Team All-Big Ten honoree led the team with 22 caused turnovers on the year, good for third-most in a season in the Ohio State record book. He started all 15 games for the Buckeyes this year and added a career-high 48 ground balls, three assists and one goal.

Hudgins graduated last Sunday with a degree in physics. He earned Ohio State Scholar Athlete honors both of his two seasons as a Buckeye. He was drafted in the fall to the NLL's San Diego Seals.

Since the Premier Lacrosse League's inception in 2018, six Ohio State men's lacrosse players have been drafted to the league. Hudgins is the 28th Buckeye drafted to a professional outdoor league. He joins fellow Buckeye defenseman and three-time PLL All-Star Ben Randall ('18) on the Waterdogs roster.
