Ohio State will face Vanderbilt at noon Sunday for a spot in the Super Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the doubles point and three straight-set singles wins, the No. 12 Ohio State women's tennis team downed Toledo 4-0 to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes (20-7) will take on Vanderbilt, who beat Wake Forest in the first round, at noon Sunday in the Auer Tennis Complete in Columbus for a spot in the Super Regionals. Admission and parking are free.

The Buckeyes took a 1-0 lead against Toledo (18-6), winning on courts three and two for the doubles point. Ohio State captured the first set on all six singles courts and Luciana Perry, Irina Cantos Siemers and Akanksha Bhan all won in straight sets for the team victory. Perry joined with Audrey Spencer for a doubles win, with Teah Chavez and Madeline Atway also winning in doubles.

How it Happened

The Buckeyes picked up the doubles point with wins on courts three and two.
The duo of Madeline Atway and Teah Chavez won the first five games en route to a 6-1 victory against Audrey Moutama and Shalini Tallamraju on court three.
On court two, the tandem of Audrey Spencer and Luciana Perry prevailed against Sanjana Tallamraju and Sloane Teske, 6-2, also winning the first five games.
Ohio State's Shelly Bereznyak and Irina Cantos Siemers led Cassie Alcala and Julia Kuszynski 5-2 on court one when the doubles point was clinched.
The Buckeyes won the first set on all six courts, allowing two games or less in each match.
Ohio State captured three straight-set singles matches, dropping a combined six games across the six sets, for the team victory.
On court two, Perry downed Teske, 6-1, 6-1, and on court one Cantos Siemers was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Alcala.
Akanksha Bhan sealed the team win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Kuszynski on court six.
Play was abandoned on the other three courts. Sydni Ratliff was up a set and a break on court three and Spencer was leading 6-2, 3-2, on court five. On court four, Chavez won the first set but was behind in the second.
Perry has won her last 10 completed matches and is 14-4 in dual play, while Cantos Siemers is 17-4 in dual action and on a seven-match winning streak. Bhan is 5-1 this spring.
