Tyack leads Buckeyes with four goals, Lasda posts five points
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a back-and-forth contest, the Ohio State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 16 Penn State, 15-13, in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament Saturday in University Park, Pa. The game ends the Buckeyes' season with an 8-9 record.

The No. 2-seed Nittany Lions (10-6) led the No. 7 Buckeyes 3-2 after the first quarter and the teams were tied at five at the half. In the third quarter Penn State scored three of the first five goals for an 8-7 lead but back-to-back Ohio State scores moved the Buckeyes ahead 9-8. A free position shot from PSU again deadlocked the game, sending the teams into the final quarter tied at nine. Ohio State notched the first two goals of the fourth for an 11-9 lead but the Nittany Lions went on a five-goal run and moved ahead 14-11. Ohio State scored two of the game's final three goals for the 15-13 final.

Freshman Kate Tyack had a career-best four goals to lead Ohio State, while senior Jamie Lasda had a hat trick and two assists for a five-point day. Zoe Coleman tallied twice for the Buckeyes and Regan Alexander made 11 saves in the cage.

How it Happened
- Emily Magalotti opened the scoring for the Buckeyes at 11:45 of the first quarter, cutting inside for the tally.
- Penn State notched the next two, at 7:54 and 4:52, to take a 2-1 lead.
- The teams traded goals to close out the quarter with the Nittany Lions ahead 3-2. Leah Sax scored on the run at 3:48, answered by Penn State's Erika Ho 41 seconds later.
- Ohio State opened the second quarter on a three-goal run for a 5-3 lead. Jamie Lasda tallied unassisted, driving through her defenders, at 12:27 to tie the game and Kate Tyack put the Buckeyes ahead with a free position goal less than a minute later. A Brynn Ammerman tally gave Ohio State the game's first two-goal advantage.
- Two Penn State tallies in the last 1:23 of the quarter, on a free position chance and player-down with 19 seconds left and the shot clock winding down, sent the teams into halftime tied at five.
- A Tyack free position goal at 13:23 of the third quarter put Ohio State in the lead (6-5) but Penn State responded with a player-up tally at 11:05 to again tie the score.
- Tyack completed her hat trick at 10:18 for a 7-6 Buckeye lead.
- Penn State's Emma Kelly notched the next two, at 7:28 and 6:42, for the Nittany Lions' first lead since the first quarter (8-7).
- Lasda tallied at 6:08 and then found Zoe Coleman in front at 4:23 to put the Buckeyes back ahead, but a free position goal from Kelly at 3:35 again deadlocked the score. The teams headed into the final quarter tied at nine.
- Coleman's second of the day, assisted by Lasda, at 12:57 broke the tie and Annie Hargraves scored unassisted at 10:23 for an 11-9 Ohio State lead.
- Penn State went on a five-goal run to take control. Meghan Murray scored two free position goals in 52 seconds (the second player up) to tie the game at 11 at 9:03.
- Gretchen Gilmore put Penn State in the lead at 6:37, followed by goals at 6:10 and 4:39.
- Lasda ended the run with an unassisted goal, spinning away from her defender and scoring to cut the deficit to two (14-12) with 2:54 remaining.
- The teams traded goals in the final 1:40, with Tyack scoring for the Buckeyes, for the 15-13 final.
- Ohio State was outshot, 36-29, and goalie Regan Alexander made 11 saves, including eight in the first half.
- Penn State had the advantage in draw controls, 18-13, and ground balls, 17-7.
- Magalotti, Lasda, Maeve Simonds and Kampbell Stone led the Buckeyes with three draw controls each. Ammerman and Katie Chisholm were first with two ground balls apiece and Chisholm also had two caused turnovers.
- Lasda led the Buckeyes with 43 goals and 51 points this season, her second straight 50-point season. She ended her career on a 23-game scoring streak, with 54 goals, 20 assists and 74 points in the stretch (and on a 10-game goal scoring streak). It was her 15th career game with a hat trick or more and her 12th game with five or more points. In her career, Lasda had 105 goals, 51 assists and 158 points in 60 games. She is tied for eighth in school history in career assists, moving into the Top 10 in the game vs. Penn State.
- Lasda had a team-best 68 draw controls this season, the sixth-most in a single season in school history. She is ninth all-time with 112 in her career.
- Tyack had her first four-goal game after two hat trick and now has seven multiple-goal outings as a Buckeye. She is on nine-game goal and point streaks, with multiple points in eight of the nine outings. On the year, she had 24 goals and 31 points, tying for third in goals.
- Alexander had 10 games with at least nine saves this season and had 460 stops in her 52-game Buckeye career, ranking fourth in school history. Her 157 saves this year rank ninth for a single season. She is one back of tying for 10th in career ground balls with 122.
- Sax finished second on the team with 29 goals and ranked third with 36 points, with at least one point in 15 of 17 outings (and in each of the last six).
- Ammerman led the Buckeyes with 28 assists and was second with 48 points, ranking fourth with 20 goals. She had a point in all but one game.
- Hargraves had at least one goal in all but three games and had 24 goals and 25 points this year, tying for third on the team in goals.
- Coleman is on a six-game point streak and had 32 points on the year, ranking second with 14 assists. It was her ninth career game with two or more goals.
