COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team wrapped up the Penn Relays and the Clark Wood Invitational on Saturday with a pair of victories at the Penn Relays and a record-breaking victory at the Clark Wood Invitational. Â

Janela Spencer earned the Buckeyes' first 100m hurdles win at the Penn Relays in 24 years with a personal-best time of 13.01. Fatouma Conde, Nya Bussey and Leah Bertrand joined Spencer to win the 4x100m relay (43.92).

At the Clark Wood Invitational, Carlos Aviles won his second-consecutive discus competition by breaking the program record with his best mark of 59.14m / 194' – a record previously set in 2003.

PENN RELAYS RESULTS
- 100m: The Buckeye women finished one after the other as Leah Bertrand led the pack in sixth (11.67), Nya Bussey finished seventh (11.70) and Fatouma Conde was eighth (11.72). On the men's side, Marcus Brown finished fifth (10.55).
- High jump: Amaya Ugarte finished third by clearing 1.79m / 5'10.5". On the men's side, Shaun Miller tied for fifth and Reign Winston finished seventh, both clearing 2.06m / 6'9" with Miller Jr. clearing on his first attempt. Â
- Pole vault: Abbey Kuhn and Sophie Fong both cleared 3.90m / 12'9.5" to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
- 4x400m relay: The Buckeye men's squad (Carmichael, Louis, Hanson, Singh) finished eighth (3:08.53).
- 100m hurdles: Katie Ruffener finished sixth with a wind-aided time of 13.76. Ruffener ran a PR (13.83) in the prelims to notch the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
- Discus invite: Behind Aviles' record-breaking throw, Tanner Watson had his best throw of the season (57.64m / 189'1") to finish in the runner-up spot. Faith Bender finished third on the women's side with a season-best throw of 56.93m / 186'9".
- Discus: The Buckeye men had three of the top-five finishers with each throwing for a PR. Hayden Tobias finished third (49.94m / 163'10"), while Evan Johnson (49.24m / 161'6") and Adam Riedinger (47.50m / 155'10") directly followed.
- 3000m steeplechase: Akemi Von Scherr finished fourth (10:57.57) with her time being faster than the previous stadium record.
- Triple jump: Morgan Bridges' best mark (12.19m / 40') was good for eighth in the meet and was the second-best among all Buckeye women this season.
- 1500m: Sydney Paul led the Buckeye women with a PR of 4:37.60, while Alex Dediu led the Buckeye men (3:54.53).
The Buckeyes will travel to Ann Arbor for the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, beginning on Friday, May 10. Â
