COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will wrap-up its Florida swing this week at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. The first two rounds will be played on Monday and the final round will be played on Tuesday.
- Ohio State’s lineup will be Maxwell Moldovan, Neal Shipley, Adam Wallin, Jackson Chandler and Jack Vojtko.
- The Buckeyes opened the spring by winning the Southwestern Invitational in late January, one of three Top 4 finishes this season.
- This will be the fourth appearance for the Buckeyes at the Valspar Collegiate. They finished third in 2021, sixth in 2022 and fourth in 2023.
- Ohio State is currently ranked No. 26 in the latest Scoreboard rankings powered by Clippd.
- Maxwell Moldovan has played well at the Valspar the last three seasons. He finished runner-up as a freshman at 10-under par in 2021 and 14th at 4-under par in 2022. Last year, he tied for fourth at 9-under par. In nine rounds at Floridian GC, he has averaged 68.56.
- On the year, Moldovan is averaging a career-best 70.33 with four Top 20 finishes.
- Shipley is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Hayt Invitational, where he finished at 1-under par. That was his third Top 5 finish of the year and the fourth of his career. He is averaging a team-best 69.90 this year.
- Wallin is also averaging a career-low 71.10 this season and continues to top the team with 17 rounds at par or better. He is tied with Shipley with five eagles on the season.
- Chandler had a fourth-place finish at the Watersound Invitational last month and has nine rounds at par or better this season. He is the fourth Buckeye who is currently averaging a career-low.
- Vojtko will be playing in his fifth round this spring since enrolling at the start of the second semester. He posted a Top-20 in his first collegiate event and is coming off his first collegiate victory as he won The Johnnie-O Individual earlier this month. He shot rounds of 69-68-70 to finish a season-best 6-under par,
- The weather forecast looks ideal as temperatures are expected in the high 70s and low 80s with very little chance of rain.
