
Ugarte Breaks High Jump Program Record to Wrap Up Outdoor Opener

The Buckeyes earned three wins on the final day of competition at the USF Alumni Invitational on Saturday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team wrapped up its first outdoor meet of the season on Saturday at the USF Alumni Invitational.
Amaya Ugarte set a program record to win the women's high jump, clearing 1.85m / 6'0.75" with the runner-up clearing 1.70m / 5'7". Reign Winston earned the Buckeyes' first field win of the outdoor season by clearing 2.15m / 7'0.5" in the men's high jump. Antonio Hanson won the men's 400m (45.82).
TRACK EVENTS
- 400m: The OSU men had two of the top-eight in the event as Noah Carmichael was seventh (47.08) and followed Hanson's win.
- 4x100m relay: Both Buckeye women relay squads were in the top-10. Marcia Sey, Olivia Powell, Janela Spencer and Fatouma Conde finished as the runner-up (44.06) by just 0.005 seconds. Columba Effiong, Sydney Bryant, Leah Bertrand and Nya Bussey were ninth (45.86). The Buckeye men finished seventh (40.63) as Carmichael, Armani Modeste, Marcus Brown Jr. and Nick Biega made up the relay squad.
- 1500m: Ohio State's women accounted for two of the top-eight finishers among 65 total. Aniya Mosley was sixth (4:23.19) and Gia Napoleon was eighth (4:24.74). Alex Kenish led the Buckeye men (4:01.05).
- 100m hurdles: Janela Spencer (13.15) and Chanler Robinson (13.77) finished fourth and ninth, respectively. Â
- 100m: Sydney Bryant led the Buckeye women by finishing fourth overall (11.63). Nick Biega represented the Buckeye men (10.56).
- 4x400m relay: The Buckeye women finished seventh (3:44.40) with a lineup of Avery Clark, Bertrand, Effiong and Conde. Â
FIELD EVENTS
- High jump: On the men's side, the Buckeyes had two of the top three finishers with Winston's win and Sean Kaminski finishing third (2.00m / 6'6.75"). Â
- Discus: Faith Bender led the Ohio State women as the event's runner-up (56.49m / 185'4"). The Buckeye men had two of the top-six athletes with Tanner Watson finishing fourth (55.57m / 182'3") and Carlos Aviles finishing sixth (54.58m / 179'1").
- Triple jump: Brian Kellon was fifth (14.06m / 46'1.5") on the men's side. Zamesha Myle and Atinuke Shittu both made the women's finals, finishing sixth (12.16m / 39'10.75") and seventh (12.09m / 39'8"), respectively. Â

The Buckeyes will split the squad between the Raleigh Relays and the Texas Relays Thursday, March 28 through Saturday, March 30.
