
Buckeyes Receive All-Region Recognition

Nine honorees will compete in NCAA Championships in Columbus next week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sixteen members of the Ohio State fencing program have been recognized by the United States Fencing Coaches Association with All-Midwest Region awards. The awards are based on result and field size at each of the NCAA regional competitions.

Luca Fioretto, Alina Lee and Edriss Ndiaye were all named to the first team. Lee, a foilist, earns her third all-region award, after a second team selection in 2023 and honorable mention accolade in 2022. Ndiaye was an honorable mention honoree in men's foil last year. Fioretto is in his first collegiate season.

Four epeeists – Karina Dyner, Paul Veltrup, Montserrat Viveros and Miles Weiss – were named to the second team, joined by foilists Dasha Myroniuk and Justin Vogler. Viveros is now a four-time second team honoree (2020, 2022, 2023), the first in program history to earn all-region honors four times since the award was created in 2020. Veltrup was also a second team selection in 2023 and earned honorable mention accolades in 2022. Myroniuk is a second team honoree for the second year in a row and Weiss was an honorable mention choice in 2022. Dyner and Vogler earned their first awards.

Seven Buckeyes received honorable mention recognition – Gabriel Feinberg, Yeva Mazur and Julia Semikin in epee, Ilya Ayupov in foil and Ele Perrier, Avin Rai and Samuel Rightler in sabre. Mazur and Perrier were both recognized for the third time. Mazur was a second team selection in 2022 and an honorable mention choice in 2023, while Perrier was an honorable mention honoree for the third time. Feinberg received honorable mention recognition in 2022. Ayupov, Rai, Rightler and Semikin each earned their first all-region accolade.
