COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2/2 Ohio State women's basketball team (22-3, 13-1 B1G) travels to Penn State (16-10, 7-8 B1G) on Thursday for a 6 p.m. tip-off. The game will be broadcast on BTN and AM1460.
- Ohio State clinched a top-four seed and double bye in the Big Ten Tournament with an 80-47 victory against RV/- Nebraska last Wednesday at home. The Buckeye defense forced 30 turnovers and totaled 15 steals.
- Jacy Sheldon (23), Cotie McMahon (20) and Rikki Harris (11) led the offense. McMahon added 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
- The Buckeye defense forced 30 turnovers against a Big Ten opponent for the first time since Feb. 21, 2001 against Northwestern. This was the first time since Feb. 2, 2020 (at Nebraska) that OSU's defense held a Big Ten opponent to less than 20 points in a half (19 - first half).
- Penn State enters the game 16-10 overall and 7-8 in conference play after losing by a 77-62 margin at Maryland on Sunday.
- The Nittany Lions hold conference wins against Northwestern (twice), Rutgers, Purdue, Nebraska, Maryland and Minnesota, while PSU has lost to then No. 12 Ohio State, Michigan State, No. 14 Indiana, Michigan, then No. 2 Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Maryland.
- Penn State has five players averaging double figures, led by Ashley Owusu's 17.5 ppg - though she's only played 11 games so far this season. Leilani Kapinus leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game.
- Ohio State trails 37-30 in the all-time series against Penn State. The Nittany Lions have the 19-9 advantage in the series when playing in State College.
- This is the second meeting of the season as Ohio State won the game on Dec. 10, 2023 by a 94-84 margin in overtime in Columbus.
- Jacy Sheldon led all scorers with a season-high 31 points, while Cotie McMahon was close behind with 27 points. Celeste Taylor earned a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
