No. 2 Ohio State Beats Penn State 82-69 on Road for 13th Straight Win

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The No. 2/2 Ohio State Buckeyes (23-3, 14-1 B1G) beat Penn State (16-11, 7-9 B1G) by an 82-69 margin on Thursday evening in Rec Hall.
Ohio State scored the first 13 points of the game and built a 26-10 lead after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes' lead was 37-24 at halftime. Ohio State had the 27-18 advantage in the third quarter to increase its least to 64-42 after 30 minutes. Each team had an 11-point run in the fourth quarter as scoring was capped at 82-69 after a Penn State buzzer beater.
Jacy Sheldon moved into eighth in all-time scoring at Ohio State with 20 points today to bring her career total to 1,919 points. Celeste Taylor recorded the 1,500th point of her career and finished with 16 points tonight. Cotie McMahon was the first in the game to reach double figures, finishing with 16 points. Taylor Thierry also reached double figures with 14 points.

Ohio State scored the first 11 points of the game to force a Penn State timeout with 7:26 remaining in the opening quarter. The Buckeye defense held the Nittany Lions scoreless until 5:31 left in the quarter. OSU had 10 assists on 11 made field goals and held the 26-10 advantage after 10 minutes.
Penn State opened the second quarter with its first three-pointer of the game before OSU responded. The Nittany Lions strung together a 7-0 run to cut the Buckeyes' lead to 32-22 with 4:18 to play before halftime. The Buckeyes had the 5-2 advantage leading into halftime as they held a 37-24 lead.
After the Nittany Lions opened the second half with a jump, the Buckeyes responded with an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 48-26 just two minutes into the quarter. Ohio State used back-to-back three-pointers to lead 58-34 at the media timeout with 4:38 remaining in the third. The Buckeyes led by a 64-42 margin after 30 minutes.
Scoring alternated to begin the fourth quarter before a 7-0 Buckeyes run extended OSU's lead to 74-48 with 5:22 to play, forcing a Penn State timeout. The Nittany Lions scored the next 11 points to cut the Buckeyes' lead to 78-59 with two minutes remaining. Penn State scored on a buzzer beater to cap scoring at 82-69.
