Buckeyes Stun No. 2 Purdue 73-69
COLUMBUS, Ohio – What a way to cap an emotional week, as Ohio State took down No. 2 Purdue 73-69 on Sunday at Value City Arena.
The win improves the Buckeyes to 5-10 in the Big Ten play and 15-11 overall on the season.
Sophomore Bruce Thornton led the Buckeyes in scoring with 22 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists, surpassing 200 for his college career. Jamison Battle scored 19 points, all in the second half, on 6-of-8 shooting with three three-pointers.
Zed Key battled Zach Edey inside and finished with nine points and a career-high five steals.
Edey led Purdue with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
The Buckeyes found themselves down early as Purdue got out to an 8-0 start just three minutes into the game. Thornton would score eight points to cut the lead to four by the first timeout. Ohio State forced three turnovers in the next four minutes but still trailed 16-12 by the mid-point of the half.
