COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State continues its southern swing to open the spring season as the Buckeyes will compete in the Watersound Invitational this week. The 54-hole event is being played at the Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Fla.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will be Maxwell Moldovan, Neal Shipley, Adam Wallin, Jack Vojtko and Jackson Chandler. Jacob Tarkany will play as an individual.
- The Buckeyes opened the spring by winning the Southwestern Invitational and then finished 9th at the Puerto Rico Classic last week. Neal Shipley led the Buckeyes in both events, claiming his first collegiate title at the Southwestern Invitational and then finishing 11th in Puerto Rico.
- Ohio State is currently ranked No. 27 in the latest Scoreboard rankings powered by Clippd.
- Shipley has finished double-digits under-par in each of his last two events and a total of three times this season. He was 12-under par at the season opening Maui Jim Invitational and last week at the Puerto Rico Classic. Both are career-low finishes. He leads the team with a 68.87 scoring average.
- Maxwell Moldovan has finished under-par in all five events this season and is right there with Shipley in scoring at 69.53. He is also tied with Shipley with nine rounds in the 60s, which pushes his school record mark to 47 rounds. Moldovan’s 78 rounds at par or better are also the most in program history.
- Moldovan and Shipley were each named to the 40 player Ben Hogan Watch List earlier this week.
- Adam Wallin is currently averaging a career-best 70.60 and has a pair of Top 20 finishes. He is coming off a 2-under 70 in the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic and has posted 13 of 15 rounds at par or better this season.
- Freshman Jack Vojtko has put together two great tournaments to start his career. He was 17th at 2-under par at the Southwestern Invitational and posted rounds of 72-70-75 last week in Puerto Rico to finish at 1-over par.
- Jackson Chandler posted solid rounds of 72-73-73 last week in Puerto Rico and is averaging 73.25 strokes per round this season.
- Jacob Tarkany will be playing in his fifth event of the season. He holds an average of 73.18 and has a fourth-place finish at The Cardinal Indy following rounds of 70-69 (-1).
- Seven of the 12 teams in the field are ranked in the Top 30 of the latest Scoreboard rankings, and 11 of the 12 are in the Top 75.
