
No. 8 Ohio State Sweeps Weekend Against Quincy

The Buckeyes won by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-20 Saturday.
Jacob Pasteur and Daniel Hurley each had nine kills to lead Ohio State. Michael Wright was credited with match-high highs in assists (32) and digs (9).

How it Happened
Set 1
Justin Howard got the match started with a kill before a pair of Quincy errors put the Buckeyes up 3-0. Quincy then tied it with a 3-0 run. The squads traded points until the Buckeyes used a 5-2 run to take a 14-10 Ohio State. A Ben Putnam kill upped the lead to 20-13 Buckeyes. A Cole Young kill put Ohio State up 22-15 before Kyle Teune made it 23-16 Ohio State with a kill. Howard buried an overpass to set up set point at 24-16. Teune then finished off the set with a kill on the right side for a 25-17 win. The Buckeyes hit .500 in the opener while Quincy hit .067. Jacob Pasteur led the Buckeyes with five kills in the set.

Set 2
Ohio State jumped to a 5-2 lead. A pair of Young kills around a couple Hawks points made it 7-4 Buckeyes. A Pasteur kill followed by a Quincy error led to a Hawks timeout with Ohio State leading 11-5. Kills by Young and Daniel Hurley around a Quincy timeout put Ohio State up 21-10. Hurley added another kill down the right side to make it 23-13 Buckeyes. Teune got the Buckeyes to set point with a kill before a Hawks service error gave the set to the Buckeyes, 25-14. Pasteur remained in the team lead with seven kills.

Set 3
Ohio State jumped to a 8-2 lead. A Young and a Buckeye block made it 10-4 Buckeyes. Howard and Hurley kills gave Ohio State a 13-7 advantage. A back-row Pasteur kill made it 16-9. Hurley then mimicked Pasteur's effort for a 17-10 lead for the Buckeyes. Quincy called timeout with Ohio State leading 19-13. A Hurley kill and Hawks error made it 21-14 Ohio State. A Buckeye block led by Young made it 23-15 Ohio State. Match point was set up by a Quincy net violation. After the Hawks called their final timeout, Quincy scored the next three points before a service error ended the set, 25-20, and match, 3-0.
