
Buckeyes Travel to Arizona, Virginia this Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team is back on the road this weekend, making trips to Arizona and Virginia.

Buckeyes Emily Armstrong, Hannah Heffernan and Emma Spott will compete at the Cactus Classic in Mesa, Ariz. and the rest of the squad will compete against Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m.

Buckeyes as of Late
Ohio State spent last weekend on the road, with the team earning a win at Michigan and finishing second at Texas Woman's University. Hannah Heffernan has two wins in solo on the year after earning her second at Michigan. The Buckeyes won every category against the Wolverines, with Daniella and Gabriella Molano Arango winning duet, and trio. Taylor Sullivan was a part of the first-place trio team and the Buckeyes' team routine of Lilly Ortiz, Venice Shoda, Carol Walsh and Angelie Roger took first.

Saturday marks the start of the 48th season of the synchronized (artistic) swimming program at Ohio State. Head coach Holly Vargo Brown enters her 12th season at the helm of the Buckeyes. Vargo Brown is assisted by Monica Velazquez-Stiak, who is in her second season on Ohio State's coaching staff.Â

The Buckeyes return eight members of the 2023 national championship team. Of those returners, five were part of the 2022 title-winning team. Ohio State's roster represents four countries with student-athletes from Canada, Colombia, Peru and the United States. The team is made up of eight freshmen, three sophomores, three juniors, one senior and a graduate.
