Three Buckeye Men Among Top-Six in 5000m Program History

Ohio State wrapped up competition at Boston and Clemson on Saturday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team wrapped up the weekend's competition at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday.

Three Buckeye men broke into the program's all-time top-five in the 5000m (which hadn't changed since 2006) in Boston. Giovanni Copploe was the runner-up in the 5000m open (14:05.95, fourth in program history) and Nathaniel Tamminga finished eighth in the 5000m open (14:11.47, fifth in program history at the time) before Sean Carney's 14:09.27 put him as the fifth individual on the program's all-time 5000m list.

Daniel Edwards cleared a personal-best 5.00m / 16'4.75" in the pole vault at Clemson to earn his first career victory.

- Shot put invite: Hayden Tobias was the runner-up on the men's side with a best throw of 19.87m / 65'2.25". Lacey Stringer finished eighth on the women's side. Â (15.75m / 51'8.25").
- Shot put open: Both Buckeye men had season-best marks and were in the finals. Carlos Aviles was the runner-up (18.01m / 59'1.25") and Adam Riedinger was ninth (17.11m / 56'1.75"). Faith Benders' best throw of the season went for 15.08m / 50'0.75" as she finished sixth.
- High jump invite: Amaya Ugarte cleared a season-best 1.85m / 6'0.75" to tie for fourth overall. Â Â
- 4x400m relay: The Buckeye men's A squad finished eighth (3:08.32), while the OSU women's A squad was 10th (3:37.23) with both squads running their fastest time of the season.
- High jump open: Shaun Miller Jr. cleared 2.10m / 6'10.75" to finish ninth. Â
- Triple jump: On the women's side, Zamesha Myle rounded out the top-10 (12.35m / 40'6.25") in her triple jump debut. Brian Kellon was the lone Buckeye men's competitor with a best mark of 13.66m / 44'9.75". Â Â Â
- 200m: Columba Effiong led the Buckeye women with a time of 23.90 and Braxton Brann led the Buckeye men (21.10). Â Â Â Â
- 800m: Alex Kenish led the Buckeye men, finishing 45th (1:50.79) out of 265 finishers.
- Mile: Will McGraw was the lone Buckeye to run the mile (4:22.49). Â Â Â
- 3000m unseeded: Jack Agnew ran his season-best time (8:27.51).
The Buckeyes are scheduled to compete at the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday. Â
