Ohio State scores last two goals to improve to 12-4-1 on the year
COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the game's final two goals, the No. 15 Ohio State men's hockey defeated Notre Dame, 2-1 in overtime, in game one of a Big Ten series between the teams Friday in Value City Arena. Notre Dame scored the only goal of the first two periods. A power play tally from Buckeye Davis Burnside tied the game nearly midway through the third and Brent Johnson notched the overtime winner.

The Buckeyes improve to 12-4-1 on the year, with a 5-2-0 2-0-0 Big Ten ledger. The Irish are now 6-11-0 and 1-8-0 1-2-0 B1G. The teams will wrap up the series, and the 2024 slate, at 7 p.m. Saturday in Columbus.

- Ohio State had the edge in shots, 11-8, and the Irish had the only power play chance, when they put three shots on net, in the opening period.
- Neither team scored in the second, with the Buckeyes outshooting Notre Dame, 18-5. Each team had one power play chance.
- The Buckeyes took advantage of a power play in the third, when Davis Burnside put in the rebound of a Gunnarwolfe Fontaine shot from right in front. Aiden Hansen-Bukata had the second assist on the tally, which came at 8:20.
- Ohio State again outshot Notre Dame, 13-5, in the third stanza.
- In overtime, the Irish had a shot saved and another hit the post – their fourth post of the night – before the Buckeyes clinched the win.
