
Buckeyes Announce Captains

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Buckeyes will serve as captains for the 2025 Ohio State women's lacrosse team, head coach Amanda Moore announced. Emily Magalotti and Leah Sax were both selected for the second year in a row and are joined by Annie Hargraves and Lilli Sherman.

"Leah, Emily, Annie and Lilli are tremendous ambassadors of our program," Moore, in her second year at the helm, said. "We are grateful for their hard work now, and moving forward, as we embark on a new season of Buckeye Lacrosse."

Magalotti, a midfielder from Reading, Pa., is in her third season at Ohio State and is a redshirt senior. She played in all 17 games last year, starting 16, and scored 10 goals, recording 32 draw controls, eight caused turnovers and 11 ground balls. In her collegiate career, she has seen action in 37 games, with 33 starts, recording 10 goals and points, 41 ground balls, 45 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers. Magalotti, who spent two years at North Carolina and was part of the squad that won the 2022 NCAA Championship, is an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll and Academic All-Big Ten selection as a sport industry major. Â

Sax, who calls Philadelphia home, is in her fifth year with the Buckeyes and plays attack. After seeing action in three games her first three years, Sax had a breakout campaign in 2024, ranking second on the team with 29 goals and third with 36 points, adding seven assists, seven ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls while starting all 17 games. Sax earned a dual degree in assistive and rehabilitative technology and health sciences in the spring and is now working toward a master's degree in social work. She received the 2024 B1G Sportsmanship Award for Ohio State, has earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honors the last three years and is a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection.

A senior midfielder from Upper Arlington, Ohio, Hargraves played in all 17 games in 2024, scoring 24 goals and adding an assist for 25 points. She was second on the team with 52 draw controls and had nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. After missing 2022 with injury, Hargraves has played in 34 games over the last two years, with 37 goals and 38 points, along with 55 draw controls and 15 ground balls. The sport industry major is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree who earned a spot on the B1G Distinguished Scholar and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll lists last year.

Sherman, a defender from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., saw action in 11 games last season, with nine starts, missing time with injury, in her first year as a starter after playing five games her first two seasons combined. She picked up 19 ground balls and had 11 caused turnovers in 2024. A sport industry major, Sherman earned IWLCA Academic Honor Roll accolades last season and is a two-time B1G Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten selection.
