Five Double-Figure Scorers Lead Ohio State to 96-53 Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/11 Ohio State women's basketball team (5-0) beat Bowling Green (2-4) by a 96-53 margin on Sunday afternoon inside Value City Arena.
Ohio State used a late 8-0 run in the first quarter to take a 23-12 lead after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes extended their lead to 47-23 going into the locker room after a 24-11 second quarter. Ohio State saw its lead build to 76-35 after 30 minutes and a 29-12 third quarter. The Buckeyes again scored 20 or more points in the fourth quarter to cap a 96-53 win.
Jaloni Cambridge was the first Buckeye to double figures and finished with 17 points. Four more Buckeyes joined J. Cambridge in double figures – Taylor Thierry (season-high 17), Chance Gray (18), Kennedy Cambridge (career-high 10) and Ava Watson (career-high 20).
How it Happened
After Bowling Green opened scoring, Ohio State scored six points in under a minute to grab a 6-2 lead. Scoring alternated and the Buckeyes led by a 10-7 margin at the media timeout. OSU strung together eight unanswered points to extend its lead to 20-9 with 1:37 to play in the quarter and led by a 23-12 margin after 10 minutes.
J. Cambridge scored first in the second quarter and the teams traded a few baskets until the Buckeyes put together a 9-0 run to take a 40-18 lead midway through the quarter. Ohio State extended its run to 14-0 and its lead to 45-18 by keeping Bowling Green scoreless for more than four minutes. The Buckeyes held a 47-23 lead at halftime.
Ohio State scored the first eight points of the third quarter to bring its lead to 55-23 approximately two minutes into the quarter. The Buckeyes used a 13-0 run to extend the lead to 68-25 with 4:34 to play in the frame. Both teams got to the line down the stretch and OSU led by a 76-35 margin after 30 minutes.
Bowling Green opened scoring in the fourth quarter with a pair of baskets before K. Cambridge scored five-straight points on the floor. The Buckeyes doubled up the Falcons at 88-44 midway through the quarter. Scoring was capped with Ohio State up 96-53.
