
Buckeye Women Place Second, Men Third at Ohio State Fall Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team placed second and the No. 10 men's team placed third at the Ohio State Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Saturday.
The Buckeye women totaled 2,413.50 points. Indiana placed first with 2,526.50 points. The men finished with 2,164 points. Indiana placed first with 2,999.50 points and Louisville placed second with 2,444.50 points.

- Mila Nikanorov opened Saturday's finals session with a resounding victory in the 1650 free. Nikanorov won with an NCAA A standard time of 15:49.26, which automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships. She finished over five seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer. Gwen Woodbury (16:04.81) placed third and Mia Rankin (16:09.55) placed fifth; both of their times are NCAA B cuts. Emma Finlin finished sixth with an NCAA B standard time of 16:18.43 and Lucy Malys placed 11th with an NCAA B cut of 16:33.21.
- On the platform, Paola Pineda Vazquez placed third with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 293.60. Lena Hentschel placed seventh with a score of 264.10, which is an NCAA Zones qualifier.
- In the A final of the 100 free, Rachel Bockrath finished third, touching the wall at 48.24, which is an NCAA B cut. Erin Little tied for fourth place with an NCAA B standard time of 48.45. Sienna Angove finished eighth with an NCAA B cut of 48.78. Teresa Ivan placed third in the B final and record an NCAA B standard time of 49.14.
- Paige Hall placed third in the 200 back A final with an NCAA B cut of 1:53.24. Delia Lloyd placed sixth with an NCAA B cut of 1:55.18.
- Reese Dehen was the third-place finisher in the 200 breast A final; she touched at 2:10.22, which is an NCAA B standard time. Ava DeAngelis tied for fourth place with an NCAA B standard time of 2:10.14. In the B final, Danika Varda placed third with an NCAA B cut of 2:12.08.
- Jessica Eden placed fourth in the A final of the 200 fly, touching the wall in an NCAA B standard time of 1:57.42. Bella Fisco won the D final with a time of 2:07.00.
- Ohio State closed out competition with a win in the 400 free relay. The team of Little, Sienna Angove, Ivan and Bockrath raced to an automatic NCAA qualifying time of 3:11.53.
- Alex Metzler placed third in the 1650 free with an NCAA B standard time of 15:55.50. Sam Campbell was right behind him, touching fourth in an NCAA B cut of 14:56.33. Mason Edmund placed seventh, also with an NCAA B cut; he finished in 14:58.91.
- Kylie Flory was the winner of the platform dive with an aggregate score of 393.30, which is an NCAA Zones qualifier. Tyler Read placed fifth with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 319.55 and Dom Roberto placed eighth with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 313.35.
- In the 100 free, Tomas Navikonis placed second in the A final, touching the wall at 42.26, which is an NCAA B cut. Mario McDonald won the C final, finishing in 43.71.
- Cornelius Jahn took third place in the 200 back A final with an NCAA B standard time of 1:40.66. His time is also a program record. The previous record of 1:40.74 was set by Connor McDonald in 2014. Luke Paxton was the winner of the B final, turning in an NCAA B standard time of 1:43.31.
- Tristan Jankovics finished sixth in the 200 breast A final with an NCAA B cut of 1:54.46. Karl Helmuth was the winner of the B final; he finished in an NCAA B standard time of 1:55.88. Winning the C final was Luke Vickers with an NCAA B cut of 1:55.81.
- Jordi Vilchez placed ninth in the A final of the 200 fly with an NCAA B standard time of 1:45.33.
- The Buckeyes placed third in the 400 free relay to close out the meet. The relay team of Navikonis, Evan Fentress, McDonald and Daniel Baltes turned in an NCAA provisional time of 2:50.31.
- The Buckeyes resume NCAA competition when they travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 18.
