COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior defender Emma Peschel scored 21 seconds into overtime to give the No. 2 Buckeyes the 1-0 win over St. Thomas Saturday at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn. The Buckeyes (11-2-2, 6-2-2 WCHA) finish the series against the Tommies (4-5-1, 2-5-1 WCHA) with five conference points.

The Buckeyes (11-2-2, 6-2-2 WCHA) finish the series against the Tommies (4-5-1, 2-5-1 WCHA) with five conference points.
How it Happened
- After skating to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation, the Buckeyes had a player advantage to start the five-minute overtime period as St. Thomas was called for slashing at 19:44 in the third period.
- Winning the opening faceoff, the Buckeyes took the St. Thomas zone and set up their power play. Joy Dunne recorded the first shot of overtime, but it was blocked.
- Ohio State maintained possession after Dunne's blocked shot and a give-and-go between Emma Peschel and Jenna Buglioni set up the game-winning shot from Peschel in the slot.
- In regulation, the Buckeyes put 39 shots on goal and Ohio State goaltender Hailey MacLeod made eight saves to keep St. Thomas off the scoreboard.
- Saturday's result was Ohio State's second overtime win of the season. The Buckeyes have played in four overtime games this year and are 2-0-2 in those contests.
- Peschel recorded her first game-winning goal of the season against the Tommies. It is also her first power play goal of the campaign. The Edina, Minn. native now leads the team with five points on the power play with a goal and four assists.
- The shutout is the Buckeyes' second of the season. MacLeod also picked up her second shutout of the season with the win. She improves to 3-1-1 on the year for Ohio State.
