How it Happened
- For just the second time this season, Ohio State's opponent was first to score with St. Thomas lighting the lamp at 2:46.
- The Tommies' lead was short-lived as Joy Dunne scored the equalizer just 14 seconds later after skating the puck from behind the goal line and into the slot, where she sent a shot past the glove of St. Thomas goaltender Dani Strom at the 3-minute mark.
- Dunne added another goal – a one-timer from the top of the faceoff circle – at 12:23 to give Ohio State the lead.
- Ohio State was on the penalty kill five times, including a five-minute penalty kill following a game misconduct on Sara Swiderski for a hit from behind, and held St. Thomas scoreless on each one.
- The lone goal of the second period was scored by Jenna Buglioni on the Buckeyes' five-minute penalty kill at 15:15. St. Thomas attempted to enter the Buckeyes' zone, but the puck was turned away by Dunne, who found Buglioni wide open in the neutral zone. Buglioni was 1-on-1 with Strom and capitalized on the chance, putting the Buckeyes ahead, 3-1.
- Halfway through the final frame, Kiara Zanon and Jocelyn Amos connected on a cross-ice give-and-go for an Amos goal at 10:35.
- Jordyn Petrie, who assisted both of Dunne's first period goals, was set up by Dunne for a goal at 12:21 in the third. Petrie received a pass across the goalie crease from Dunne and put the puck past Strom to give the Buckeyes the 5-1 advantage.
- Ohio State goaltender Amanda Thiele finished the game with 18 saves to improve to 7-1-1 on the year.
- Dunne finished the game with a team high four points on two goals and two assists. The game is her third consecutive multi-point game and second four-point performance in three games for Ohio State.
- Buglioni recorded her second shorthanded goal of the season on Friday. She has scored shorthanded five times in her career and is one shy of tying the program record.
- The Buckeyes held their opponent scoreless on the power play for the eighth time this season.
- Buglioni is the first Buckeye to hit the 20-point mark this season with 21 points after Friday's win.
